2020 Distinguished Service Award Winner: Wilker Costa

Wilker Costa, Refinaria Nacional de Sal S.A.

Tell us a little about your company.

The Refinaria Nacional de Sal S.A., also know as “Sal Cisne,” is the largest salt producer for human consumption in Brazil. Since 1949, over 70 years, we are producing salt for different purposes. Through our brands “Sal Cisne” and “ Sal Clipper”, we serve 3,000 customers in Brazil and Latin America through the Industrial and Retail channels. Our headquarters is in Sao Paulo City, our plant is in Cabo Frio city – Rio de Janeiro state. Our workforce – 500 employees were responsible for producing more than 240,000 tons of salt in the last year (2019).

What is your job title and what do you do in your role?

Since 2011, I am CIO at Sal Cisne and responsible for all IT operations. From infrastructure to mobile applications, telecom, my Team and I are working together to improve business processes and technological resources in the company.

What Oracle product do you use and what do you like most about it?

Many of our servers run with Oracle Linux, the virtualization environment run Oracle VmWare, ERP is JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Version 9.2. In the Supply Chain Management, we use the OTM (Oracle Transporation Management), the Financial and Budget department work with Hyperion PBCS (Planning and Budget in Cloud Services), UPK (User Productivity Kit) is used to training and documentation support. Right now we are implementing OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) with the ADW (Autonomous Data Warehouse) to use a BI solution. The solution we like most, I have sure is JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, because it is a complete solution to the business and it is possible to integrate that with many other Oracle solutions easily.

How long have you been involved with Quest?

Since 2016, when I subscribed to Quest and attended the event and JD Edwards Ideathon program, every year we attended many Quest events. COLLABORATE, INFOCUS, QXW, webinars and we did some presentations about our projects, experience, and knowledge about Oracle products and ecosystem.

How have you benefit from being part of Quest Oracle Community?

Quest Oracle Community for us is the path to improve our knowledge about Oracle products, more than this, is the right place to grow up networking with Oracle Partners and other customers. The possibility of learning more about technology and business solutions is very important to the IT teams and we believe the Quest Oracle Community is the best partner to do that.

What’s one interesting fact about you?

You know I am from Brazil and of course, like many Brazilians, I was a shy person to speak English. In 2016, The JDE Ideathon program was the first time I did the presentation in English and I remember I was shaking a lot while I spoke – even more when the Oracle judges looked at me and didn´t understand anything that I was saying. In the next year (2017) was the first time I presented a full session in the Quest event, I was nervous of course, but each presentation this problem was solved little by little. Thanks, Quest by the opportunities and for helped me with this issue too.

Do you have any children or pets?

Yes, I have 3 kids, Guilherme, my older son – 27, Davi – 10 and Rafael – 4 years old. To have three kids of so far ages and in Brazil, you are a crazy or a brave person. Sometimes I think maybe I´m both. I love them, I love my family. 🙂

Thank you again to this year’s award winners for everything you do for the Quest Oracle Community!
