New Legislative Update

Additional 2025 State Withholding Tax Changes

Louisiana, and North Carolina state withholding tax changes for wages paid on or after 01 January 2025 were not published in time for delivery with this update.  The Louisiana and North Carolina 2025 state withholding tax changes will be posted separately to My Oracle Support, as well as delivered in Tax Update 25-A.

Analysis is in progress to determine what product updates are required to support the recently published Iowa 2025 withholding tax changes in conjunction with the 2025 revision of Iowa Form IA W-4 (Employee Withholding Allowance Certificate).  Once completed, the Iowa state withholding tax changes will be posted to My Oracle Support, as well as delivered in Tax Update 25-A.

2024 Reflections and 2025 Wishes

As the year draws to a close, I have been thinking about the changes in Payroll software. I hit a milestone this year. I have worked on PeopleSoft Payroll for 25 years.  I have been a payroll practitioner even longer.  I have been working with Payroll since I was a teen. Do you believe it?

I would never have dreamt that many years ago, people would be looking at their pay statements on their computers, let alone their phones.  Instead of Payroll getting endless inquiries, the first line of defense will be a Payroll chatbot.  Payroll is no longer only about the administrator calculating and paying the employees.  We now empower administrators with tools to analyze their data without running endless reports or allowing employees to model their pay.  What a different world we live in compared to preparing paychecks on typewriters and green screen computers.

If you still need to take advantage of these innovations, consider implementing one of them in 2025.

I look forward to continuing to work with our customers in 2025 and wish everyone a stress-free payroll year ahead.
