Based on Oracle Generation 2 Cloud Architecture,  Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) provides a fully automated data warehouse specific features to deliver outstanding query performance. ADW also comes with a library of Oracle machine learning algorithms and a new set of tools such as SQL notebooks for predictive analytics and machine learning. This allows Data scientists to run Machine Learning projects in Oracle Database without moving data and also allows Database developers to pick up Machine learning with database tables, SQL, and PL/SQL. l This session will examine Oracle Machine Learning as part of ADW collaborative environment. We will discuss the process to develop machine learning applications in the ADW Oracle Machine Learning environment:  analyze and prepare data set;  build and evaluate and apply machine learning model. We also will discuss other Oracle Machine Learning family products and what new features are coming up in Oracle 20c.

It is true. You can laugh your way to understanding queuing theory, performance analysis and why systems behave the way they do.

From driving in traffic to being served at a restaurant, every person feels the impact of queuing theory. Queuing theory beautifully relates time and work into terms we can feel, like utilization, workload intensity, response time, elapsed time and systems architecture design.

With only the basics we can use foundational queuing theory to derive targeted performance solutions and goals, filter and evaluate any performance solution thrown at us and help non-technical people understand why our solutions make perfect sense.

Join us for a shockingly practical and fun session that will impact your Oracle career and beyond.

This presentation will look at which 19c new features that should be investigated for use.  This presentation will also have a few 20c new features such as AutoML.  This presentation will also look at which 18c new features that should be in use (such as Snapshot Carousel, PDB Switchover, In-Memory External Tables, Merge Partition Online, Advances in the Approximate Query, Polymorphic Tables, Standby Nologging, and Password-less Schema Creation - & others).  Most of the features that will be covered will be related to the DBA, but there will also be a few outside that realm that focus on the developer.  There will be simple examples, where possible, to show the basic functionality of the new features.  Some features are too new to show example, but only explain.  We will also look at the autonomous database and Oracle's focus on the future of security.

Competitive businesses rely on database as a service (DBaaS) to provide the agility needed to meet quickly changing market requirements and respond to demands for additional services. In this session learn how customers create and implement a DBaaS platform on top of Exadata, which provides rapid provisioning of databases from a service catalog, as well as integrated Oracle Recovery Manager backup and automated security compliance checks. In addition, learn how to use Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c to deliver powerful DBaaS capabilities for consolidation.

Large cities are often the most progressive adapters of technology of government institutions. Join us as we discuss the challenges of large, diverse user groups like finance, roads and transportation, public health and safety including fire and police, parks and recreation, and license and regulatory enforcement. We’ll review the most useful frameworks and methods that bring value to the analytic systems of cities and other similar government agencies. We’ll also use publicly available data to demonstrate how to leverage the power of Oracle Analytics in delivering powerful results and value.

We often see DBAs use somewhat cumbersome methods to document or write implementation steps that involve a combination of both OS (i.e. "Bash") and Oracle (i.e. "SQL Plus") commands.  However, with pipes and command concatenation, most Oracle utility commands can be executed more efficiently from a single or small number of OS commands.

Using a single command not only makes documentation and manual steps easier/cleaner to implement but also makes the commands trivial to automate or use at scale with tools such as Ansible.

Oracle Database 20c came with 138 new features and three major ones, which are directly related to tables and indexes in the database: Blockchain Tables, Automatic Index Optimization and Automatic Zone Maps. The article covers all these three in detail with some examples.

George Danner, President of Business Laboratory, recently talked through how to transform a company by rethinking, reimagining how it could work with a digitally connected enterprise (customers, partners, things, and systems) with intelligence from the data driving decision-making processes. Learning more about digital transformation is key in the everchanging world we live in, and Danner's presentation helps users understand it and learn from professional sports about how analytics has transformed the way sports teams organize themselves, select players, establish strategies, and win.
