Our customer, a US based insurer wished to move their on premise 12.0.6 EBS system to the Oracle Cloud in an as-is migration. In an ideal scenario, we could have upgraded to a supported OS and release and then done the migration but due to the constrained timelines and criticality of the system the client required us to move the system as-is. The applications were moved to Oracel IaaS Cloud and the database to the Exadata Cloud Service. Along the way, we wrestled with GRE tunneling, helped in the establishment of the fast connect link, and with the "lift and shift" from the on premise installation to the cloud-based one, this now acts as the perfect platform to initiate the other currency upgrades on the system.
