The functions and features of PeopleSoft translate into real and immediate benefits for organizations. PeopleSoft can impact the entire cycle of IT for Human Resources including recruiting, workforce administration, talent development, procure to pay, financial management and operations, and credit to cash. The impact is made possible by easy configurations, powerful analytics, personalization opportunities, notifications, and accessibility. Rebekah Jackson, Vice President of Product Strategy at Oracle, walks through each of the stages in the cycle and outlines the impact PeopleSoft can have on each.

While one of PeopleSoft’s benefits has been the ability to customize, customizations do require maintenance costs. PeopleSoft customers now have more options to meet business objectives while minimizing customizations using new features in PeopleTools and frameworks. The experiences shared by a customer panel assembled for Quest Experience Week – PeopleSoft Day allows you to consider your organization’s approach to leveraging these new functionalities.

As part of Quest Experience Week—PeopleSoft Day, Kim O’Connor, the Senior IT Manager at Tower International, gave a presentation about the company’s process of implementing self-service. The presentation covered the phases of implementation, considerations to keep in mind, and how they handled support and testing.

We will walk the audience through the process we began in 2013 to implement Self-Service, which stalled as quick as it started.  But in July of 2017 we embarked on the journey once again.  We have a lot of  functional and technical experience in house but there was so much to learn.   Many decisions had to be made; 2 Factor authentication or just user id and password,   Third party vendor for 2 factor or develop with Peopletools.  Text or Email authentication code, and how to force User Profile Setup and how do we manage higher volume support.   Working with the business Leadership we decide to secure the infrastructure and then begin rolling out more functions in 2018.  Upgrading our Peopletools to 8.56 and learning to work with Fluid pages, Tile creation, branding and new Peoplecode events.  Finally, the outcome our success, our lessons and hints for anyone else looking to implement Self-service outside their firewall.

101000: BI Publisher: Reporting in PeopleTools 8.55 and Later

Presented at RECONNECT2018 by HyperGen, Inc.,

In PeopleTools 8.55, Oracle stopped supporting Crystal reports. As older versions of PeopleTools have also moved out of active support, the pressure to upgrade continues to build. One major factor that has held several clients back from upgrading to 8.55 or higher is that they can't bring along their custom Crystal reports. At HyperGen, we have helped several clients with major undertakings to convert all of their reports to BI Publisher, the current generally accepted format. While many aspects of building reports may be familiar to developers who have used Crystal in the past, BI Publisher has its own set of capabilities and quirks of which the user should be aware. Our team has put in the time to figure BI Publisher out, and I can personally attest that everything goes much faster if someone explains just a few basic concepts instead of starting from scratch.
