HarbisonWalker International (HWI), located in Pittsburgh, PA is a leading supplier of refractories products and services in the United States and is known globally where Josh is a Senior IT management leader. He is responsible for developing the long-term strategic roadmap for providing applications and processes to enable the company to grow on a global scale. Josh has led the overall digital transformation at HWI over the past 5+ years which includes ERP, HCM, Office 365 (Skype & Teams), as well as leading a team to digitize processes at their manufacturing plants to improve efficiencies and lower costs.
Prior to HWI, Josh held positions with numerous IT organizations including the ZOLL LifeVest and Industrial Scientific after consulting at Accenture and US Steel and brings over 20 years of experience in areas of Enterprise Applications, unified communications, enterprise architecture, and IT operations.
He became interested in serving on the Quest board “in order to hear the challenges that others are facing as we move to the Cloud.” One of the objectives he hopes to achieve while serving is to “establish standard communications among Oracle customer technology leaders.”
Josh shares that HarbisonWalker joined Quest because “they were looking for assistance in making the migration, an Oracle Cloud, ERP, SCM implementation, from a legacy based green screen system to a web-based system like Oracle Cloud. We wanted to understand what challenges other customers were facing and lessons learned.” He added, “we gained a further understanding especially around the HCM Cloud and conditional continued deployment of additional modules within the system has been a part of that.”
Like many other companies during the pandemic, HWI had to figure out a way to leverage resources available to continue to make progress. Josh says, “Quest played a great role in that through its digital events, special interest groups and webinars. He encourages all to “reach out to the Quest website. Someone is always there and ready to help you get engaged.”
Josh attended Carnegie Mellon University where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He currently resides in the Pittsburgh area with his wife and two teenagers. In his spare time, he can be found playing golf or at a hockey rink, basketball court, or football field attending his kids’ events.
