In Campus Solutions 9.2, the PeopleSoft Search framework and the Elasticsearch engine are used to support the Class Search and Browse Catalog features in the delivered Fluid pages. Thanks to Fluid UI, students can use a laptop, tablet or smartphone to utilize Class Search and Browse Catalog. Users can enter a keyword or use the “Additional Ways to Search” link to begin a search. Search results are displayed based on the value entered or selected. This tool makes searching and enrolling in classes easy for the students.
You will need to set up and successfully test Elasticsearch for your Campus Solutions 9.2 environment in order for Class Search and Browse Catalog to work in Campus Solutions. This requires PeopleTools 8.55.12 or higher. You will need to make sure that your search definitions are deployed. Four search definitions are delivered and should be used to implement Class Search and Browse Catalog. The facets that are delivered have been designed and constructed to work out of the box for Class Search and Browse Catalog.
Class Search and Browse Catalog makes finding classes simple and doable at the click of a button. Instead of having to go through pages and pages of classes, students can filter their search so that they are only viewing search results that pertain to their search.
