Hello, JDE Connection listeners! This week, we continue our series on JD Edwards feature functionality with an exploration of Order Management.

A Quick Reminder

Before we get into our next module, just a quick reminder for those who missed our previous episodes, we covered financials, manufacturing, and supply management. These episodes are part of our series aimed at providing a deeper understanding of JD Edwards’ core modules and their capabilities. So, if you haven’t already, go check them out!

Understanding JD Edwards Order Management

Order Management is more than just taking and shipping orders. This module helps businesses efficiently manage the complexity of orders to minimize costs, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure order profitability. With JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Order Management, you can handle sales orders from various channels including in-person, EDI, Internet storefronts, self-service portals, phones, and even faxes. Yes, they still exist!!!

Sales orders are integral to business success, and accurate, rapidly processed sales orders drive that success. JD Edwards offers diverse and flexible sales order management capabilities that integrate seamlessly across all aspects of your enterprise.

Advanced Pricing

One complex aspect of order capturing is advanced pricing. Determining the right price and discounts can be a challenge, but the advanced pricing module streamlines this process. It allows for specific customer or item pricing and leverages powerful grouping capabilities. You can set quantity breaks for prices and award discounts based on transaction quantity, weight, or amount. Plus, it supports various calculation methods, including specific markdowns, cost-plus amounts, target profit margins, and custom-built pricing logic.

Advanced pricing also includes controls for managing changes, ensuring profit margins, and setting price ranges. Tools like the pricing workbench, mass maintenance, and customer price lists help align your pricing strategy with your business objectives.

Fulfillment Management

Fulfillment Management is essential when supply fails to meet demand. It helps prioritize sales order lines, assign inventory based on priority and service levels, and manage supply effectively. This module improves customer service by scoring and prioritizing customer orders, reducing late orders and backorders, and increasing customer satisfaction. It also reduces administrative costs by automating fill rates, canceling open balances, and enforcing service level rules.

Customer Self-Service

Customer Self-Service lets customers view and manage their orders, including product catalogs, inventory availability, shipment tracking, invoices, and service requests. This improves customer satisfaction and frees up your staff to focus on more complex or strategic tasks.

Agreement Management

Similar to procurement, the Agreement Management module in order management helps manage customer relationships throughout the supply chain. It allows you to create agreements to leverage core competencies, share expertise, and reduce costs.

Midwestern Cuisine Highlight

We continue our focus on Midwestern cuisine! This week, we’re talking about a Scandinavian dish made from dried whitefish, preserved, and rehydrated. This process gives it a distinctive flavor and intense odor that some love and others, well, not so much.
