Oracle’s cloud applications conferences have come a long way. Just two years ago they were four separate events dotting the calendar in multiple locations; they are now part of a single annual event called Modern Business Experience (MBX).
This is a notable thought leadership conference for CX, finance, HR, and supply chain professionals which promises to be an event to look forward to each year. This spring at Chicago’s McCormick Place West, March 23–26, 2020, attendees will explore new ways to optimize business in the cloud.
Each of the four product areas—CX, finance, HR, and supply chain—have their own keynotes, sessions, and targeted programs where attendees can be hyper-focused on their specialty. CMOs, CFOs, CHROs, COOs and their staffs can concentrate on their respective fields. Perhaps more interesting though, is the invitation to step outside one’s business area to connect with other departments. Each conference pass allows full access so attendees choose – in advance or on the fly – whatever content is most relevant to their interests and challenges. Some teams will attend together; others will divide and conquer.
What’s particularly intriguing about the new iteration of Oracle’s events is the role customer success plays throughout. Dozens of customer speakers are confirmed to share their transformation stories on stage, in panels, and during meetups. They’ll divulge which Oracle solutions drive their businesses but the story isn’t necessarily about technology. The focus is on the companies – their challenges, the journey to modernization, the results of their vision and effort, and what others can learn and apply in their own situations.
Still, for those with an eye on what’s behind the curtain, there’s also plenty of opportunities to see how technologies like AI, chatbots, machine learning, and behavioral analytics enable innovation. Practitioners won’t lack options to get a more detailed look through workshops, roadmap discussions, demos, and access to product developers.
Having such varied content under one roof allows the kind of exploration that hasn’t before been possible. Details are still emerging but there’s already a solid list of customer-led sessions like

There’s a block dedicated to exploring challenges facing companies within the same field; Industry Forums allow attendees to hear how similar businesses have improved operations, finances, and employee experiences through cloud solutions.
And because any good conference makes time for professional development and yes – fun – MBX organizers are conscientiously building in plenty of time for both organized and spontaneous networking.
