This session outlines how one can use VVOLS effectively to manage business critical databases such as Oracle and SQL We will profile performance and other common operational use cases with vSphere 6.0 Virtual Volumes(vVOLs) to house the database data. We will also demonstrate how to provide quick and efficient backup , recovery and replication mechanism by allowing snapshot of database vmdk’s at a storage level
With VMware VVOLS, the storage system has knowledge of VM level attributes such as a VMDK or VMX, log, clone, swap or other VMware objects. VVOL compatible storage systems can do native and granular functions such as cloning, replication, snapshot at a virtual machine level. VVOLS can help enhance Business critical databases with management processes such as backups, replication and database refreshes. VVOLS can also help with more granular disaster recovery.
