It is an exciting time. It is a terrifying time. Technology seems to be moving faster than anyone could have imagined, upending industry after industry, but providing tremendous opportunities in its wake at the same time. This all leaves us wondering… what can we do to be Future Ready given these new and uncertain times brought about by potent technologies like AI? You might be surprised to know that this is hardly the first time that society has been confronted with massive upheavals due to the introduction of the sweeping technology of the day. Who can forget the violent riots in the late 1700s as the Industrial Revolution was taking hold? In this talk, we will look carefully at several periods of history and the lessons they taught us as to how to prepare to thrive in a world that includes AI-borne superpowers. History is the finest of teachers. We will then shift over to a more modern take on what is going on today. Here again we look at people and companies that can teach us more about what the future holds. Tesla, Apple, SpaceX, and Amazon are remarkable firms with charismatic founders, but what lessons do those companies hold for the average businessperson looking to make a difference going forward? We believe that we have uncovered some crucial features of modern-day firms that will propel them long into the future, along with other firms that adopt their practices. Our conversation will inevitably lead to the steps that people can follow to prepare for the coming wave of technological progression. Managing day to day operations in an ERP system can be challenging in its own right: but trying to keep up with the implementation of three new work management systems: a new business unit: an upgrade to an auxiliary financial management system: your own PUM & PeopleTools Upgrade: AND day to day operations in the same year is exhausting. In my session: I’ll be discussing how we managed to juggle all of that work across a handful of environments in order to hit multiple go-live dates across six months while also supporting production. I’ll start by reviewing our timelines and the conflicting factors in play across these efforts: some fire drills that caused re-planning: and run through diagrams capturing our strategy. I’ll wrap things up with a discussion on how we cleaned up our environments after the go-lives and lessons learned on how we’re moving forward with a better environment strategy. SDCOE began a 5-year journey in 2016 to bring over 50 disparate schools district live on a single PeopleSoft environment (HCM & Finance). Leveraging a private cloud and common business processes, the district office of education set out with its implementation partner to implement PeopleSoft Financial, Procurement and HR/Payroll modules in a phased approach over a 5-year period. While the final group of districts went into production in 2018, we have continued to deploy additional districts and new PeopleSoft functionality over the ensuing years, while managing regular hardware infrastructure, PUM and Tools upgrades in our shared services environment. Managing a rigorous update schedule, new features and functionality, and maintaining over a dozen PeopleSoft environments has not been without its challenges. In this session we will summarize our initial deployment, but will be spending most of our time reviewing how the SDCOE/CRT provides day-to-day service management activities in assisting our customers, the districts we serve. MDC Holdings is one of the top homebuilders in the United States. Since going live with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in 2010: they had accumulated mass amounts of data and needed a way to archive financial records and purchase orders. MDC chose to use Essentio’s Archivist tool to build a custom solution to archive records based on their Homebuilder data. In the past 10 years, working from home has become more and more common. When employees only worked in a few specific locations, it was easy to setup those locations in PeopleSoft with its core features (including its tax requirements) and maintain that location for all the employee’s that worked there. But in the new remote working world (especially with COVID), employees are now working most of their hours from home, which may be in other states and with new tax localities. State tax revenue offices have become more aware of this trend and have been more aggressive about getting those employees or employers to pony up any work location taxes in addition to any resident taxes the employee should be paying. One of the biggest challenges to continuous adoption of JD Edwards updates is dealing with existing customizations. While the ability to modify standard objects has been a powerful feature that allowed many organizations to tailor the software to their specific needs: these modifications also present a major time sink for analysis and retrofitting whenever we apply ESUs or Application Updates. Meanwhile: Oracle has given us numerous tools that allow for solutions to be created on the glass: which bypass the need to merge our changes with an official release. The IL Wage Payment & Collection Act (IWPCA) amended regulations now require employers to maintain the following records for three years:- All policies regarding reimbursement;- All employee requests for reimbursement.- Documentation showing approval or denial of reimbursement; and- Documentation showing actual reimbursement and supporting documents.Our project made the necessary changes in the system to make sure we keep a record of an employee's expense reports as required: including the ones returned by approvers. Previously: they are being automatically deleted if they have been inactive for 30 or more days. We also removed the ability for employees to delete their own expense reports to ensure we don't lose record of them.Another audit item we needed to address was the requirement of an expenses supervisor approval for all paid expense reports. Previously: employees who do not have an expenses supervisor set up in HR: can attach a signed copy of their expense reports to the submission. When Accounts Payable approvers do not see an electronic expenses supervisor approval in place: they can check attachments to make sure it has a signed approval from the supervisor. This manual process sometimes results in expense reports getting approved without the required supervisor approval which is an audit red flag. The project made the electronic supervisor approval required for all expense report submissions which cut down the time and effort for our Accounts Payable and also resulted in faster turnaround for reimbursement requests. Real Life Scenario: During the Hypercare phase of a JDE deployment: a priority ticket led to the discovery of certain critical fields and tables that required a mass upload of data: as well as mass update of existing records. Absence of standard mass upload programs and presence of a dynamic UKID field in the live environment further complicated possible resolution approaches. JDE Orchestrator Based resolution: During this presentation we will explore how an orchestrator solution was quickly developed: with the capability to perform a mass update of records into the required tables: by using standard JDE Interactive forms: reducing the projected fix from days to a matter of seconds. Using an orchestrator also maintained the integrity of relevant data and the UKID fields. We will review how the orchestration was developed: the elements of the orchestration: the data provided by the client: and the testing procedure to execute the correction: and discuss how this solution was superior to often-used SQL updates. Case study demonstration / Review Michelman Mobile apps and integration with JDE using Orchestrations. Trisha Muir: Michelman Dir. of ERP long realized status quo work order processes had to be improved. One primary reason was the need to improve visibility to the necessary PPE: hazards and process instructions before starting to manufacture a batch and capturing the acknowledgement from the operator. Michelman was able to add validations within the process to minimize waste and failed batches resulting in cost savings. Sustainability is one of Michelman’s core values; digitizing the paper work order helps them to achieve their goal of reducing the use of paper globally. Deployment is based on work center Zebra tablets with bar-coding OCR embedded. Cycle Count app created to allow associates from the office to participate in the annual Physical Inventory using their company phone. Michelman will also demonstrate mobile apps in process: Purchase Order Receipts and Picking/Shipping as well as opportunities to streamline master data and customer onboarding. NASBA

It worked flawlessly. Now we have a more than a dozen LEX objects in the last 6 months. They do anything from interfaces to validating a line number in P90CDxxx. In this presentation we'll walk through the projects that kicked off these Logic Extensions and go through a number of them in depth.
The Labor Distribution module is an effective solution for streamlining the labor distribution process: while leveraging system controls to ensure compliance with award requirements.During this session: Baylor University will highlight the improved processes and efficiencies associated with streamlining labor distribution and discuss best practices and lessons learned from their recent implementation of the Labor Distribution module. Oracle has slowly transitioned most of their user-facing transactions to fluid objects/pages as fluid objects are designed to render more consistently across devices. Additionally: Northwestern has transitioned all other user-facing transactions to Fluid Pages. In 2022: a Fluid Requisition Discovery project was done to identify configurations/customizations that would be necessary to support the purchasing business process at Northwestern. Discovery included development to bring over configs and customizations currently in place in the Classic pages: functional analysis as well as User Acceptance Testing.In January of 2023: Northwestern went live with Fluid Requisitions but kept Classic Requisitions available to ease the transition for users as well as work out any additional bugs not found during the discovery and implementation phases. Configurations/customizations that had to be developed in Fluid Requisitions included but weren’t limited to: Making Supplier required: Disabling Unused Menu Items: Custom Field Labels and Look-ups: Integration with Third Party Marketplace: Removed Ability for Users to Editing Supplier/Item Info on Catalog Requisitions.During the transition phase while both Classic and Fluid Requisitions are still available: the most substantial issue discovered in Fluid Reqs was that users were not able to resubmit a Denied Requisition. With Classic Requisitions: we had a workaround to edit price or quantity which would retrigger workflow. This workaround did not work in Fluid Requisitions for multi-line requisitions. Oracle provided a workaround for Fluid which included adding/editing the Justification Comments which then re-triggered workflow. To help make this apparent to users: we implemented a customization which requires Justification Comments for all denied fluid requisitions.Now that we believe that we’ve worked out any roadblocks for users: we plan to discontinue Classic Requisitions as the end of this calendar year.
