As part of a digital transformation initiative, Lane evaluated existing manual processes within the procure-to-pay space and identified areas in need of digitization. To this end, a project was initiated to integrate our Oracle JD Edwards ERP with the New Procurement Platform (NPP), a cloud SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) application used by our parent company, the Webuild Group. NPP functionally serves two purposes: 1.It digitizes the sourcing process from initial request, to RFx, to receiving bids, to making a recommendation and then selecting a winning bid/vendor. 2.It acts as a vendor master and also provides tools to analyze vendor performance. In order to support the speed of the business process, the decision was taken to integrate JDE and NPP via web services / REST APIs. Orchestrations were created to call services to load requisition data & PO consumption data into NPP. Orchestrations were also created to process incoming NPP calls to update requisition status, create vendors, update vendors, etc. This approach eliminated the need to transfer flat files via SFTP and also allowed data to flow “real time” between the two systems. What you will learn about in the session: 1. Challenges and stumbling blocks encountered when first starting to use Orchestrator and AIS. 2. Learnings and insights from living with and supporting Orchestrator/AIS based interfaces compared to “traditional” flat file-based interfaces. 3. Understanding how attachments on requisitions were handled. This session is eligible for NASBA credit.

The reconciliation of Bank statements was quickly becoming a full time job for our finance team as they manually reconciled using the bank statement, a statement from our credit card processor, and some spreadsheets to match transaction totals. New Ecommerce initiatives happening this year will generate even more credit card and ACH transactions. So we needed a way to help the reconciliation process. We embarked on implementing the Auto Bank Reconciliation process in JDE. However, we found not even half the transactions were being reconciled. The challenge seemed to be the credit card and ACH transactions. In this session we will walk though steps in the process, how we configured the JDE Reconciliation from start to finish and what we learned. Then added our own process automation – using JDE tools to solve the gap with the credit card and ACH transactions. Now the majority of transactions our Bank statements are automatically reconciled (Receipt transactions to the G/L to the bank statement) and finance only has to select and manually match a few exceptions via the JDE application – and that is literally a side by side select and press the reconcile button! Gone are all the extra spreadsheets and extra hours of work! This session is eligible for NASBA credit.

Asset-intensive industries are those business operations that have invested substantial capital in fixed plant and/or mobile equipment used to generate revenues for the company. In many instances, these processes and equipment have components that are routinely 'swapped out' with available spares to ensure continuity of production operations. At the same time, the 'used up' component is rebuilt and restocked as an available spare. In 2023, Agnico Eagle Mines conducted a Six Sigma Kaizen event with representatives of their business operations to discuss their corporate challenges with Repairable Spares and to build a business case for how to improve the handling of Repairable Spares in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1). The results of this Kaizen indicated that Agnico Eagle Mines could conservatively save at least $2.6M/year if they had better JDE E1 systems and processes to manage the complex integration of Accounting, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Inventory related to Repairable Spares management. Agnico Eagle Mines has chosen to implement the new EnterpriseOne Planned Component Replacement module created by Asset Management Solutions to address this critical business requirement. Join Agnico Eagle Mines and Asset Management Solutions as we discuss details of their Repairable Spares Kaizen initiative and demo the capabilities of the Planned Component Replacement module for EnterpriseOne.

Many JD Edwards clients prefer the natural integration in which the JDE Transportation module has with the other distribution modules, in order to achieve a more proficient sales order pick-pack-ship process. However, they are often left unsatisfied by the lack of advanced features within their Transportation system, which are necessary to stay on the cutting edge of their industry. The ability to auto tender a carrier, or even better to cycle through a priority list of carriers, could save a substantial amount of time, not to mention the additional savings from always selecting the lowest cost provider to issue a tender, instead of choosing a carrier based on how quickly they respond to your e-mails. Join us as we discuss how we enhanced JDE in order to design an auto tendering solution to increase overall freight profitability, as well as to allow for real time communication with transportation carriers. We will discuss the standard functionality available within the JDE Transportation module, as well as some glaring gaps. This session utilizes RFID scanning technology alongside JD Edwards to streamline inventory management and warehousing operations. RFID tags are attached to individual item packages and boxes, allowing for precise and real-time tracking of inventory to the item level. For shipment-level tracking, boxes containing multiple tagged items are equipped with an RFID tag that corresponds to a unique shipping number. When a box is placed under an RFID scanner, all tags within the box, plus the shipping tag, are detected simultaneously, significantly speeding up the scanning process. The scanned data is then sent to JDE via an orchestration, which verifies the quantity and accuracy of the items in the shipment. This identifies any discrepancies in real time, demonstrating its effectiveness for pack verification. Shipments ready for departure are routinely monitored through RFID scans. Once a shipment is no longer detected in the area, JDE orchestration executes the ship confirmation process. This automation enhances accuracy by minimizing human error through automated verification, increases efficiency by streamlining the outbound warehousing process, and improves inventory management with real-time updates and accurate records. Overall, this system optimizes packing and shipping processes, ensuring that shipments are accurate and complete before leaving the facility, thereby achieving higher efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in inventory and shipping operations. Is traditional development becoming obsolete? Given the rapid evolution of tools around Oracle’s Low-Code/No-Code framework, do you feel yourself behind the curve and that traditional development is phasing out? Perhaps you’ve had thoughts that you need to upgrade to the latest Tools Release to take advantage of something that may not be doable with traditional development. The truth of the matter is that enhancements to the system are still done through traditional development. Since Release 9.2 (GA in 2014), there have been over 300 enhancements to the system done through traditional development. As a developer by nature, I used to think everything could be done through traditional development. Luckily, I have been exposed to the Low-Code/No-Code Framework and my perspective has changed. Knowing what the framework offers made me tune my development thought process and nowadays I have a better sense on how to approach requirements and/or enhancements. If you are unsure what approach is the best or maybe just intrigued by my experiences, come join me. In this session I will share several real business cases where one approach was better than the other and when both are working together. And you will learn firsthand the steps taken to decide what approach is better. We will also cover the latest advancements on: - Extensibility Framework: Extending User Experience without Customizations - Form Extensions, Logic Extensions, Composite Pages and EnterpriseOne Search Other topics that we will cover: - Object Usage Tracking - Customization Object Analyzer, Application Configuration Analyzer and Decustomizer Analysis Report - Smart Customizations with reusable code This session is eligible for NASBA credit.

In this case study, the client had multiple Oracle SaaS integrations (e.g., Oracle Field Services Cloud, Product Hub Cloud, Sales Cloud, Demantra, and others) with the JD Edwards ecosystem, rolled out across multiple countries. However, the client faced challenges when integrating Oracle CPQ with JD Edwards. This limited the client to resorting to a Fixed Bill of Material (BOM) instead of a Configure-to-Order (CTO) process, which was better suited to their business. Birlasoft was selected as the partner of choice to help them implement the following: 1.Full-scale integration between OSC & JDE 2.Implement CTO process in CPQ & JDE 3.Implement integration between CPQ & JDE This solution highlights were: 1.Developed a CPQ & JDE real-time interface using Oracle Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and JDE Orchestrator. 2.Made no changes in the standard JDE sales order application and master business functions. 3.Leveraged CPQ to configure the item using select options and integrated directly with JDE workorder parts list to help avoid creating a unique item and JDE BOM. 4.Configured “09” (Manufacturing Last Cost) for the CTO items to align with the standard cost requirement across components. 5.Incorporated notifications and emails into the solution for optimized error management. The Customer Master Portal is a status-based controlled system that integrates with JDE to streamline the customer master record creation. It is built on JDE orchestration, which automates the workflow and validation of customer data. The portal also uses the Smarty Street plugin/APIs to verify real-time customer addresses and a ReactJS framework page to design the front-end interface. The portal works in two steps: 1) Create a customer master record, which captures the essential information, assigns a temporary number to the customer, and generates a workflow to queue the request for approval. 2) Approve the record, which triggers the orchestration to create an actual customer in JDE, populate the category codes and other fields based on the rules and steps defined, and update the status of the record. The Customer Master Portal has transformed the JDE customer creation process by automating data validation, ensuring accurate and consistent customer records, and providing a user-friendly approval system. This innovation has led to improved data quality, reduced errors, and a more efficient workflow. The portal also prevents the creation of duplicate customer records, enhancing overall user satisfaction and streamlining the customer onboarding experience. All purchase orders go through the PO approval process. Our business process requires all PO’s to have quotes or other documentation attached for any orders over a certain amount prior to approval. For our maintenance process, PO’s were being system generated and going to approval before the quoting process could be complete. This session illustrates the usage of Orchestrator, Form Extensions and Logic Extensions to allow users to review system generated purchase orders prior to submission for formal approval. This session is eligible for NASBA credit.

This session will take place Thursday, October 3rd, 1:30pm - 2:30pm MT. With all the rich functionality added to Orchestrator quarter-by-quarter, it is impossible to keep up with it all, and there remain some "hidden gems"—features that have been in the product for ages, yet remain undiscovered or underutilized. If you attended the Insights session “Orchestrator Hidden Gems and Techniques” and want to polish your Orchestrator skills, attend this workshop to try out these often overlooked, but powerful features. We hope you leave saying, "I didn't know I could do THAT with Orchestrator!" Note: Registration is required for this session, and attendance is limited to customers only. To add this session to your conference registration, please visit the My Registrations portal in your Quest account. Walk-ups may not be accommodated on site. A laptop is required to participate in this session. Registrants should arrive to the session no later than 5 minutes early. If you have already registered for this session and can no longer attend, please reach out to [email protected] to cancel your registration and open space for additional attendees.
