Digital business in the areas of transportation, music, restaurants, lodging, groceries, and movies are all easy, accurate, and timely. In order to make digital business with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne easy, accurate, and timely as well, users need to start learning about Orchestrator, get a sandbox, pick a problem, solve it, and engage with peers and partners. A.J. Schifano, Product Manager for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, spoke about patterns that lead to digital transformation when using the JDE EnterpriseOne Orchestrator.

Quest had the opportunity to speak with Darrell Hawkes, Manager of Business Systems at Turner Industries Group, about the company’s migration from JD Edwards World to EnterpriseOne. Turner Industries migrated from JD Edwards World A9.4 to EnterpriseOne 9.2 in 18 months. The company debated moving from World to EnterpriseOne for a long time, but they ultimately decided to take the leap!

The Critical Patch Update (CPU) for April 2019 was released yesterday, April 16. Oracle strongly recommends applying the patches as soon as possible.

Emerging business technologies can help solve both operational and strategic problems. These technologies represent a growing toolbox of opportunities to help solve problems, but there might not always be an obvious match between the problem and an emerging technology. Steve Andriole, the Thomas G. Labrecque Professor of Business Technology in the Villanova School of Business at Villanova University, laid out the executive’s guide to emerging business technologies in an article he wrote in Forbes. His guide laid out what executives need to know and five steps to help them find the answers to their questions.

Oracle has provided best practices for managing User Defined Objects (UDOs) in a way that allows users to get optimal use out of them. The video was intended for users who administer and maintain UDOs, and it covered information on UDO security, UDO administration, and UDO lifecycle management.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Outbound Inventory Management enables sell-side Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and consigned inventory. It is embedded within the JDE EnterpriseOne order-to-cash business process. Joseph E. Joseph, Product Manager for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, presented the high-level business value of this standard solution and explained how customers can migrate from their custom solution to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Outbound Inventory Management.

With the application of FASB ASC 845 and IFRS 16 Leases, businesses face the challenge of updating system processes in order to satisfy new accounting standards. The FASB ASC 845 and IFRS 16 Leases standards were administered for the purpose of providing investors and creditors with more transparency into long-term leases.

Peter High, president and founder of Metis Strategy—a business and IT strategy firm, wrote an article in Forbes about his meeting with Gamiel Gran, of the venture capital firm Mayfield Fund, and a dozen other leading CIOs in the New York area.

Joe McKendrick, author, independent researcher and speaker, wrote an article in Forbes about the best qualities that today’s digital leaders should have. It requires a little something borrowed and a little something new. Not only do digital leaders need to be able to embrace cutting-edge technology, but they also need to maintain some of the same tried-and-true management principles that have been around for the last 25, 50, or 100 years. Skills like communication are still just as important as understanding AI, Internet of Things, and Blockchain. McKendrick explained that “digital leaders must blend legacy skills with those of the digital era.”

The Weitz Company upgraded to Release 9.2 during the fall of 2016. In 2017 we undertook an exercise to see what it would take to apply all the latest available Electronic Software Updates (ESU’s). With Tools 9.2.3, JD Edwards released 64-bit enablement for the Enterprise Server and Development Client. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has supported 64-bit hardware, operating systems, databases, Java, and middleware for many years. Multiple JD Edwards components, such as HTML Server, AIS Server, Orchestrator and other Java-based components, are 64-bit enabled. To round out the architecture, JD Edwards now enables 64-bit processing for the Enterprise Server and Development Client as well. 

JD Edwards customers are renowned for maintaining highly competitive enterprises and operating efficiently in markets of every size in every geographic location. Operating efficiently entails keeping operational costs low while still driving innovation. It can be difficult, but it can be done.

Business requirement to Standardize the Structures of BOMs and Routers to gain visibility for Planning of Manufactured parts and gain insight into Labor planning including Annual Budgeting. Revisited and leveraged the basic functionality of MRP / CRP in a live environment across Multiple Facilities.

-Developed a Proof of Concept with a Work around for Additional Work Centers on Routers w no impact to Product Cost and Acctg.

-Deployed the Solution for a Product Family as a Pilot along with a roll out plan for other Product Family

-This project involved 4 facilities across the globe in different time zone and touched multiple business functions including ( Product Configuration, Quality, Regulatory, Cost Accounting, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Manufacturing Operations etc).

-Standardizing multi-layered BOM structure across multiple Manufacturing facilities using the same Part numbers.

-Flexibility of simulating Labor hours for planning purposes without impacting the Product Costing and accounting of WOs in the existing Products. To achieve this a work around was utilized

-Use the Variable lead time Concept on Fix Order Quantity items along with One View Application from Enterprise one 9.2 and Advanced Query to help facilitate scheduling activities at the Work Centers by operations on Work orders

With COLLABORATE 19 coming up in just two weeks, it’s important to start thinking about your strategy for conference. Aside from making your hotel arrangements, booking travel, and picking sessions to attend, you’ll need to start thinking about all of the people you’ll meet while you’re there. A large part of conference is about making new connections and building relationships with people. You’ll likely collect a few business cards from other attendees that you encounter, and it’s crucial that you have a plan for how to follow up with them.

The Anschutz Corporation, a privately held holding company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, underwent a major Address Book project within their JD Edwards system. The company was facing 17 years of incomplete and inaccurate data that led to inactive and duplicate records that were overflowing the system. To combat the problem, the Anschutz Corporation decided to clean up and standardize the data, inactive old or duplicate records, and automate their validation process.
