In today's consumer landscape, many Millennials are more concerned than ever with supporting brands whose business practices have a positive impact on the environment, employees, and the regions from which they source their materials. People want organic, grass-fed goods when they shop. Accenture's 2018 global consumer pulse report surveyed over 30,000 consumers to find out why they purchase certain brands over another. The results showed an emphasis on what a brand says, does, and stands for, which is why Oracle Chief Sustainability Officer Jon Chorley explained that transparent supply chains improve brand integrity and ultimately get people to shop from that brand.

Christiane Soto, Senior Content Manager at Oracle, spoke with Charles Chamberlain, Director of IT at Srixon/Cleveland Golf, a golfing equipment manufacturer, about how his company leveraged Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM) Cloud to improve on-time shipments. Chamberlain has been with the company for over 32 years and recently led the company’s implementation of Oracle SCM Cloud.

In this interview, Chamberlain discussed the challenges that they faced during the implementation, what the old process looked like before SCM Cloud, why they chose Oracle as their Cloud provider, the benefits they have noticed since implementation, and much more. Check out his answers below.

Oracle Transportation Management Cloud was named a 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Transportation Management systems. Multimodal domestic transportation management systems (TMSs) are a subset of the global TMS market. TMSs generically refer to the category of software that deals with the planning and execution of the physical movement of goods across the supply chain. This Magic Quadrant specifically focuses on holistic multimodal domestic TMSs for use by shippers (such as manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and wholesalers) or non-asset-based, third-party logistics (3PL) organizations. “Holistic,” in this context, means a TMS that incorporates all basic capabilities, as defined by Gartner, for a TMS, and “domestic” refers to movements within a region, mainly through domestic modes of transportation.
