Spatial vector tiles and H3 (hexagonal hierarchical spatial indexing) are the latest modern developer-preferred techniques to create better maps in web and mobile applications. They let you create fast, flexible maps with compelling visuals that summarize very large volumes of point data.

Learn how to work with vector tiles and H3 directly in the database with simple SQL calls, and then stream the results into your web applications:

• Generate vector tiles from your spatial data with a simple SQL call
• Expose vector tiles as a REST API
• Generate an H3 index from a large point data set, then convert H3 hexagons into vector tiles
• Stream H3 vector tiles into your app for performant and interactive maps

In this session you’ll get to know the basics of vector tiles and H3 support in Oracle Database 23ai, followed by a demo showcasing the simplicity and flexibility of these techniques.
