Mark Thomas joined Hays Recruitment Specialists in 2008. Hays is a leading global specialist recruitment firm, and the market leader in places such as the UK, Germany, and Australia. Located in London, England where Mark holds the role of UK & Ireland IT Director, he and his team are directly involved in all aspects of the running, updating and solution design of the Oracle platform. The team is responsible for ensuring the stability and reliability of the systems by implementing regular patching and updates as well as designing and implementing creative solutions to solve business challenges.
Mark has over twenty years of experience in the recruitment sector and is proud to be part of an organization that utilizes innovative technology change programs to deliver that competitive advantage. He is a qualified accountant having undertaken a variety of financial, management, project, commercial accounting and now IT roles at organizations including Unilever, Kleinwort Benson, Barclays Mercantile and PageGroup prior to joining Hays.
Mark joined the Quest Board of Directors effective January 1, 2022, but has been an active member of Quest since 2015. He has participated as a member of the Knowledge Committee (specifically for HCM abstracts), the Selective Adoption Advisory Panel, presented at numerous PeopleSoft/International events, and facilitated discussions between Quest, the UK-OUG and a major partner in the UK to determine how to work more closely for the benefit of the PeopleSoft community in the UK.
When asked what interests him most about serving on the Quest board and how he interprets the value of Quest for his organization, Mark said he has “actively participated in the UK Oracle User Group for the last seven years and has seen this benefit the broader UK & EMEA based users of PeopleSoft through Oracle engagement, the ability to network and have meaningful discussions and demos with suppliers, partners and most especially other users of the PeopleSoft system. Joining the Quest board now gives me an opportunity to get even more engaged with the PeopleSoft community on behalf of European customers.”
Mark’s current focus has been looking at how both PeopleSoft and Intelligent Automation can drive the next level of transformation in the Finance, HR and Shared Service Centre operations across the UK, EMEA and the Americas. He continued by sharing, “with Oracle actively stating (in UK and Global/Virtual events) that Quest is their strategic partner for announcing and influencing product strategy, I want to be involved in the heart of Quest to drive the benefit of this strategic relationship in EMEA and India specifically. The Quest and Oracle relationship provides a massive opportunity to leverage this for the EMEA based community, especially with respect to new and emerging technologies.”
Mark resides in Hampshire, England. In his spare time, you can find him indulging his love of classic cars.
