In the past 12 months, Fluid Timesheet has had several features related to time and labor added to it. Upgrades include the TL/Abs Integration, manager Fluid transactions, auto-enrollment, payable time/overtime Fluid approvals, and timesheet LFF for elapsed time. PeopleSoft incorporated customer user testing sessions for which testers were chosen from diverse demography with varying experience levels. Eighty percent of their feedback has been incorporated before the release while the remaining feedback will be merged in the future.

Page Considerations

When trying to decide which page to utilize for time entry, some things to consider are T&L employee type, form factor and Fluid vs. Classic. There are several different T&L time reporter types. First there is an elapsed time reporter, which is typically used by someone who works the same hours daily, does mainly administrative work or reports daily hours worked. This type of report is common in public sector/higher education, e.g., supervisors.  Second, there is the punch time reporter in which the worker is going to be hourly, works hours based on a schedule and needs to punch in/out for a shift. This type of time reporter is common in retail, manufacturing and higher education—for example sales associates, factory workers and student workers. The third type is the exception time reporter, which is only used to report exceptions such as vacation, sick, jury duty, etc. Users will be either administrative or salaried workers. This type is common to all industries. Examples include directors, VP’s, administrators, etc. Lastly, the hourly time reporter is used by an hourly worker who typically works the same hours daily/weekly. It is similar to elapsed but instead enters in/out times rather than quantities, for example, bank tellers and clerks.

Form Factors

There are only two Form Factors supported by Oracle. Small Form Factors (SFF) which should work on any certified device browser of all smartphones, and Large Form Factors (LFF) which include all devices except smartphones (mini iPad, tablet, laptop, desktop, TV).

Fluid vs. Classic

There are some critical differences between Fluid and Classic. Fluid UI offers a better user interface, a more responsive design, a different design for SFF and LFF, an interface using a mouse and keyboard or a touch interface, and is maintained in App Designer. Classic offers a standard PeopleSoft styling, provides a Classic-Plus stylesheet, can be viewed on a mobile device, but not responsive, and is maintained in App Designer as well.
