ARRIS is a telecommunications company with more than 6,000 employees in over 30 countries. At Oracle Open World, Heidi Yates, an HR professional at ARRIS, along with three other team members present on their HCM Cloud decision and how the company is transforming their business with HCM at the core. They provided the following tips and tricks for making a journey to the cloud:

• Take an inventory of current processes. Then take the time to outline what you would like these processes to look like in the future.
• Worker data is central to much of the business functionality a company will use within the cloud. Consider placing the HCM suite of products first in your transformation process.
• Plan to touch every single process. Even if you have a process that you anticipate will not need change, examine this closely. The impact of the transformation to the cloud spreads far and wide across your company.
• You are going to be tempted to overestimate how much your current staff can contribute to the transformation. Don’t.
• You are going to be tempted to underestimate the amount of time required for the transformation. Don’t.
• Data conversion is not a simple lift and shift. The cloud is a new world and data conversion is going to be a process.
