To Change or Not To Change – Meeting Your ERP/SIS Needs Is the Question!

Presented by:
Joanna Schmidt, Maricopa Community College

Abstract:

Everybody has something to say about: switching ERPs, SaaS is the future, if you don’t have AI you’re behind. Skipping the sales pitches, reviews, and polls – we’ll take a look at what several decades of research (from multiple sources) have to say since the last time this same decision came ‘round (Y2K anyone?). If an ERP/SIS upgrade is the “elephant in your boardroom” then we’ll follow the adage of eating that elephant “one bite at a time”. First we’ll sort out the research into manageable bites, then present some meal plans for consuming these bites, and finish with a dessert of how to assess your current PeopleSoft. This is not a demo and no elephants will be harmed! The aim is to equip you to perform your own independent analysis.

In 2024, the University of Colorado developed a fully automated process that allows for seamless and instantaneous updates to Customer ID, Customer Address, Bill To Contact, Sold To Customer, Ship To Customer, and Bill To Customer values on up to 16 tables across Grants, Contracts, Project Costing, Billing, and Accounts Receivable. Meeting Modern Student Expectations with App-Like Experiences in PeopleSoft

Presented by:
Lynette Chaudoin, Gideon Taylor
Shawn Brett, Gideon Taylor

Abstract:

Your students don’t compare your PeopleSoft experience to other ERP systems. They compare it to TikTok, DoorDash, Snapchat, and similar apps on their phones. If the experience doesn’t reflect the intuitive digital interactions they are accustomed to, they bounce, call the office, or give up.

The good news: you don’t have to rip out PeopleSoft to meet that moment.

In this session, we’ll show how you can deliver modern, user-first experiences while keeping PeopleSoft as the secure system of record. Using a real-world Continuing Education solution built with City Colleges of Chicago, we will walk through an app-like journey powered by PeopleTools, GT WebUX, GT eForms, and the eForms Assistant, from search and registration through checkout.

We will then look ahead at how new PeopleSoft features, AI, Ida and GT eForms for Cloud support interactions, personalization, and cloud portability, giving institutions a realistic path to adopt emerging capabilities without disruptive rewrites.

You’ll leave with concrete ideas, patterns, and examples you can apply to your PeopleSoft system.
