There is something uniquely energizing about being surrounded by hundreds of people who all care deeply about the same thing you do. That was our experience in Dallas! In this episode of The JDE Connection, we talk about a week packed with strategy, innovation, honest conversations, and yes, some truly memorable swag. (Bright green cowboy hats may or may not become part of our regular meeting attire.)
Modernization Is a Mindset
If there was one theme that echoed throughout the conference, it was modernization. That word means different things to different organizations. For some, it is about adopting AI. For others, it is moving to the cloud or finally tackling years of technical debt. What became clear is that modernization is not a one-time project. It is a practical, ongoing effort to solve business problems today while preparing for what comes next.
AI Is Moving from Experiment to Execution
Artificial intelligence was everywhere at BLUEPRINT4D, but what impressed us most was how organizations are putting it to work. Some are using AI to create entirely new user experiences. Others are building digital assistants that help employees access information and make better decisions. And several companies are moving beyond proofs of concept into production environments where AI is delivering real business value.
Relationships Make Technology More Powerful
One of the best parts of the week had nothing to do with software. Customers had the opportunity to meet Oracle developers and community leaders face-to-face, often for the first time. Those personal connections build trust, make collaboration easier, and turn “I have a question” into “I know exactly who to ask.”
Progress Sometimes Requires Difficult Decisions
This year’s announcements, including the move to Oracle Redwood and the end of 32-bit ESUs with Release 27, were reminders that standing still is not an option. Upgrades and change can be disruptive, but delaying them often creates even greater risk. At some point, you simply have to rip the band-aid off.
Cloud Starts with a Vision
Many conversations centered on cloud, but the most important question was not “When do we move?” It was “What should our business look like in the future?” There is no universal migration path. The organizations making the most progress are the ones defining their target operating model first and then choosing the technologies that support it.
Midwesternism of the Day
If you are on a road trip and spot a car with one headlight out, there is a distinctly Midwestern word you might be expected to shout while tapping the roof of the car. If that brings back childhood memories, you know exactly what we are talking about.
Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and most importantly, laughing together.
Toodles!
