Hey JDE Connection listeners, Chandra and Paul here! This week, we’re sharing some interesting conversations coming out of recent customer events, along with a little excitement over what AI is making possible. Between Paul’s travels, Chandra’s adventures with Claude Code, and some changes coming to BLUEPRINT4D, we had plenty to talk about. And yes, we managed to squeeze in a few laughs along the way!

Sometimes the Best Insights Come from Customers

One of the things we love about getting together with the JD Edwards community is hearing what’s actually happening inside organizations. Paul’s recent trip to Toronto brought up some interesting conversations about AI, data sovereignty, and the challenges of planning for the future when technology seems to change every other Tuesday.

We found ourselves coming back to a familiar question: Where does JD Edwards fit into an organization’s long-term strategy?

With Oracle’s rolling 10-year Premier Support commitment extending through 2037, there’s continued reassurance around JD Edwards investment. But we also recognize that organizations need to consider their business goals, challenges, and future capabilities when making technology decisions.

And then there’s the institutional knowledge challenge. We’ve all encountered processes that were designed years ago for reasons nobody can quite remember. Change something, and suddenly we discover why it worked that way in the first place. Funny how that happens!

AI Is Opening Some Interesting Doors

We couldn’t have a conversation these days without talking about AI. This time, though, we had some pretty exciting customer stories to share.

Paul heard about a JD Edwards customer who started creating dashboards, orchestrations, and even a mobile application using AI tools, all without a traditional development background. The enthusiasm was contagious, especially for those of us who know how rewarding it feels to build something that genuinely helps people.

And Chandra might have caught that same enthusiasm. After getting access to Claude Code, she’s already discovering ways it can help troubleshoot issues and tackle tasks that previously required considerable time and effort. Paul may have questioned whether she’d remember to stop long enough to record the podcast!

Of course, we also talked about an important consideration. AI can help us move faster, but if our underlying business processes have problems, moving faster doesn’t necessarily make things better. There’s plenty worth exploring here, and we suspect this won’t be our last conversation on the subject.

Quest Is Listening to the Community

Another topic we’re excited about is the evolving JD Edwards Forum at BLUEPRINT4D.

Quest has been gathering feedback from customers about what they’d like to see at the conference. The result is a renewed focus on topics that connect directly to the challenges organizations are facing, including modernization, integration, data strategy, analytics, and AI.

We particularly appreciate that these conversations are intended to bring together technical teams, business analysts, and organizational leaders. After all, some of the most valuable conference moments happen when we hear how another customer approached a challenge we’ve been wrestling with ourselves. Sometimes those hallway conversations are worth the trip alone!

We’re hoping more customers will consider sharing their experiences, including the lessons learned along the way. Those stories are often the ones we remember long after the conference ends.

Midwesternism of the Day

This week’s Midwesternism takes us back to a familiar family conversation and one of those little regional quirks that can spark a surprisingly entertaining debate. We may never settle the disagreement, but we certainly enjoyed trying.

Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and most importantly, laughing together.

Toodles!
