Hey JDE Connection listeners! This week we recorded live at Blueprint 4D straight from the Venetian in Las Vegas surrounded by fellow JD Edwards enthusiasts, plenty of coffee, and maybe a few too many references to supper clubs.

10,000 Downloads and Counting

Before we dove into the main topic, we took a moment to celebrate a major milestone: 10,000 podcast downloads! We’re grateful for each and every one of you who’s tuned in, laughed with us, and maybe even learned something along the way. Your support fuels us (and yes, so does caffeine).

“Do For” vs. “Do With”: What It Means for JDE Pros

One of the big takeaways from this year’s keynote by Chris Laping was the idea of “Do For vs. Do With.” We loved this concept and couldn’t wait to dig into it with our live audience. It’s all about how we approach problem-solving and collaboration:

  • “Do For” means taking initiative—solving problems before they’re even reported.
  • “Do With” emphasizes collaboration—working alongside users to co-create better solutions.

As JDE and business app pros, we often find ourselves doing both. But striking the right balance is key. When we take time to build trust, ask the right questions, and keep the feedback loop open, we create solutions that are not only efficient but meaningful.

Guest Voices

We were thrilled so many joined the mic to share how they embrace “do with” in their own organizations. Highlights included:

  • Building trust by showing up consistently for business partners
  • Using low-code/no-code platforms to empower users
  • Creating a culture where continuous improvement is not just a buzzword, but a habit

Their stories reminded us that good tech isn’t enough—it’s how we engage people around the tech that creates real value.

Lingo BINGO: Live Edition

Of course, it wouldn’t be a JDE Connection episode without a little fun—and Lingo BINGO delivered! We peppered in:

  • Classic JDE trivia
  • Inside jokes about troubleshooting tools
  • Shoutouts to Midwesternisms (yes, we talked about supper clubs… again)
  • And Paul may or may not have tried to sneak in a reference to the rollercoaster of upgrades

Let’s just say: if laughter is a KPI, we were crushing it.

Midwesternism

It also wouldn’t be a JDE Connection episode without a Midwesternism. This week we chose a well-known way of measuring how good the crop will be this year.

Final Thoughts

There’s something electric about connecting face-to-face with this community. Whether we were reflecting on the power of proactive support or riffing on JD Edwards lingo, the message was the same: this community thrives on collaboration, curiosity, and good humor.
As always, we welcome your input, so please send us your ideas, stories, and even your favorite Midwest sayings (we’ll use them, we promise) to [email protected].

Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and—most importantly—laughing together.

Toodles!
