Hey JDE Connection listeners, Chandra and Paul here! This week’s episode is a special one because we’re celebrating a major milestone: JD Edwards Release 26 is officially GA! That’s right! Hot off the presses and ready for customers. We sat down to unpack some of the highlights, share what’s new, and, of course, sprinkle in a little Midwestern humor along the way.

Keeping Up with the Times (and the Trends)

We couldn’t help but notice a fun coincidence. Oracle Database just announced Oracle 26ai and Apple recently dropped iOS 26… so apparently, everyone’s catching up! We’ll pretend they were inspired by JDE. Release 26 isn’t just a number; it’s part of a bigger story. It shows how JD Edwards continues to evolve with the times—aligning with Oracle’s broader ecosystem while delivering the flexibility, automation, and modern capabilities JDE customers rely on.

Application Enhancements: Little Changes, Big Impact

We started by talking about some of the practical improvements that make everyday work just a little smoother:

  • Tolerance checks on foreign amounts in vouchers – Because exchange rates move, and no one wants to deal with unnecessary mismatches.
  • Reprinting invoices for held orders – A simple change that helps keep AR flowing without workarounds.
  • Delegating purchase order approvals – No more waiting when someone’s out of the office. It’s all about removing roadblocks and keeping processes moving.

As Paul put it, these aren’t headline-grabbers, but they make a real difference in people’s day-to-day work. It’s the small friction points that, when fixed, save teams hours.

Financials and Localization Updates

For our finance friends, we talked about the new Invoice and Receipts Report, which lets you view customer details, receipts, chargebacks, and write-offs all in one place. No more jumping between menus or exporting data just to reconcile a payment.

And for our global audience, there’s big progress on Brazil’s tax reform. We’ve laid the groundwork for compliance with new regulations coming next year (or whenever they officially finalize it – because, let’s be honest, these things always change).

Tools & Platform: The Dark Side Shines

We couldn’t talk Release 26 without venturing over to what we affectionately call the dark side: Tools.

From user input in widgets to conditional orchestration launches, this release brings major flexibility to automation and personalization. A few highlights:

  • Widgets with user input – Create fewer, smarter widgets that adapt to your needs.
  • Conditional orchestration launches – Trigger orchestrations or notifications only when specific conditions are met.
  • Improved orchestration debugging – Because every great automation needs great troubleshooting.
  • Form extensions for Power Edit forms – More customization options without custom code.

And then there’s the automation dashboard, a visual cockpit that brings your processes to life. As AJ Schifano joked, you might need a bigger monitor just to appreciate it.

System Administration Gets Some Love

CNC’s worldwide will be happy, the E1 Scheduler is officially modernized! It’s now web-based, with options to define business-day jobs, specify operating hours, and automatable via Orchestrator. After decades of service, this old workhorse just got a serious tune-up.

We also covered:

  • Web OMW table operations – No more jumping to the development client just to tweak table attributes.
  • SQL Server clustering – Finally available, joining Oracle Database 26 AI’s improved session management and case-insensitive search.
  • UDO security performance enhancements – Faster load times for the low-code, no-code tools everyone’s using more than ever.
  • Longer media object URLs – Perfect for SharePoint and OCI Object Storage integrations.
  • 4096-bit SSL certificates for LDAP – Because as Chandra said, “That’s a lot of bits.”

Staying Current with Platforms

Release 26 also brings certifications for Oracle Linux 9, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Linux compiler upgrades and Oracle Analytics Server 25, plus updates for major browsers. Staying current keeps your environment stable, secure, and supported. For more details and future plans, always refer to the Platform Statement of Direction available on My Oracle Support (Doc ID 749393.1).

Midwesternism of the Day

After weeks of work getting Release 26 out the door, Paul kicked off the episode with a massive yawn, so our Midwesternism of the day practically wrote itself. Turns out, it’s not just a saying; it’s literal. Farmers used to do this during a long day’s work, and after this release, Paul can relate.

Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and laughing together.

Toodles!
