Hosted by Chandra Wobschall and Paul Houtkooper

Hello, JDE Connection listeners! Welcome back to another episode with your hosts, Chandra Wobschall and Paul Houtkooper, where we dive deep into the intricacies of JD Edwards system codes. We know it can be a labyrinth trying to understand how everything connects, but fear not! We’re here to make sense of the chaos. So, break out your Ouija boards and listen along as we “systematically” break down these codes!

Navigating the Alphabet Soup

As many of you know, JD Edwards uses a mix of numbers and letters to define its system codes and they are not always intuitive. For instance, within Manufacturing, Shop Floor Control is system code 31 and Manufacturing Accounting is 31A, but within Agribusiness lies Blend Mgmt system code 31B. Confused yet?!

Establishing a Structure

To help alleviate this confusion, we start with the basics by organizing system codes into their corresponding modules and components. For instance, a component would be Financial Management, within which you would find the Accounts Payable and General Ledger modules, under which you would find system code 04 – Accounts Payable and system code 09 – General Accounting. In some instances, modules and system codes have a 1:1 relationship whereas in many other instances modules contain multiple system codes. It is our hope that establishing this structure will assist the audience digest the laundry list of system codes within JD Edwards.

Why This Matters

Understanding system codes is integral to navigating this complex system, interpreting menu structures and table prefixes, evaluating user access (are you using what you pay for) and facilitating troubleshooting.
