A Toast to 21 Episodes!

First things first, we celebrated our podcast turning 21 episodes old. Cheers to us for reaching the podcast “drinking age!”

Understanding JD Edwards’ Manufacturing Management System

This week, we continued our series on JD Edwards’ feature functionality, focusing on the Manufacturing Management module. This module is a powerhouse for manufacturing companies, supporting mixed-mode manufacturing – process, discrete, and repetitive – and various methods like make-to-order and project manufacturing.

Key Areas of Manufacturing

  • Requirements Planning: Streamlines the flow of materials and products, simplifying the planning process, reducing costs, and improving customer experience. Key features include supply and demand rules, rate-based scheduling, capacity planning, and Kanban processing.
  • Manufacturing Management (Shop Floor Control): Provides accurate and timely records for production activity, with features like order entry, routing, labor tracking, inventory commitment, and orderless completions.
  • Quality Management: Ensures high-quality products by responding quickly to issues and adapting production processes. Key capabilities include designing sophisticated tests, capturing results at various stages, and viewing results through reports and inquiries.
  • Configurator: Reduces errors from incorrectly configured items by validating configurations in real-time or after entry. It supports complex rules and dynamic validation to ensure only valid configurations are processed.

Midwesternism of the Week

After the deep dive, we turned to our favorite segment – Midwesternisms! This week’s highlight: Midwestern Cuisine.

Chandra shared her recent experience enjoying some Midwestern cuisine with family in Minnesota while Paul reminisced about a funny sign he saw in Wisconsin related to said cuisine. We both agreed, there is only one preferred method of preparation for said cuisine and that involves, cheap beer, onions, and charcoal. We also talked about local market near the Twin Cities, famous for its 130+ flavors of this Midwestern delicacy, including gummy bear! For the adventurous, they even have flavors like peanut butter and jelly, tater tot hot dish, and for those with a more sophisticated palate, they offer a smoked gouda ancho portabella bacon flavor.

Wrapping Up

We hope you enjoyed this episode and learned a bit about JD Edwards’ manufacturing capabilities and will incorporate our preferred Midwestern cuisine in your 4th of July celebrations. If you have questions, feedback, or ideas for future episodes, reach out to us at [email protected].

Until next time, keep learning, sharing, and most importantly, laughing together.
