Understanding JD Edwards Supply Management

Our goal with this series is to provide a comprehensive reference to the community about JD Edwards’ capabilities. JD Edwards is a robust ERP system with a lot to offer beyond the core functionalities. This week, we’re taking a deeper dive into the Supply Management module, which helps businesses obtain products and services from their suppliers.

Key Components of Supply Management

• Procurement and Subcontract Management: Effective procurement goes beyond just purchasing goods and services; it requires timely and accurate information to keep the purchase-to-delivery cycle short. This component allows for automated purchase order generation, monitoring delivery quality, and tracking supplier price trends.
• Buyer Workspace: Buyer Workspace is your one-stop shop for creating, routing, and approving purchase orders. It provides a comprehensive view of all orders, customer and supplier information, and inventory levels.
• Agreement Management: This feature helps manage supplier relationships across the supply chain, from simple purchase agreements to complex storage deals. It ensures contract compliance by associating transactions with the appropriate agreements.
• Supplier Self Service: Supplier Self Service allows suppliers to manage their quotes, purchase orders, and inventory information, reducing their dependency on your purchasing department and enhancing collaboration.
• Requisition Self Service: This feature empowers employees to create, manage, and track their orders while ensuring central control over purchasing policies, preferred suppliers, and pricing agreements.
• Operational Sourcing: Operational Sourcing automates the process of sourcing materials, commodities, and services, breaking down the lifecycle into four steps: develop sourcing events, publish events, collect and compare responses, and award events.

Where’s Waldo aka Wobschall?

In our favorite segment, “Where’s Wobschall this week?” Chandra is safely back home in Florida after an extensive U.S. tour covering 22 individual states plus the District of Columbia, racking up over 6000 miles in six weeks. It’s good to be home, even with the warm and humid weather.

Continuing our Midwestern cuisine theme, we highlight some new food options coming to the Minnesota State Fair. This fair is a food lover’s paradise even for those with dietary restrictions. It is amazing what can be deep fried and put on a stick!
