Hello, JDE Connection listeners! Welcome back to another exciting episode of The JDE Connection with your hosts, Chandra Wobschall, Senior Business Analyst at Brightview Landscapes, and co-host, Paul Houtkooper, Vice President of JD Edwards Product Development at Oracle. Another day, another dollar, or in this case, another week, another module. Today we dive into Asset Lifecycle Management. As part of our ongoing series on JD Edwards’ feature functionality, we’re going to review some of the key capabilities around core modules. We’ve already covered financials, manufacturing, supply, and order management. This week, it’s all about Asset Lifecycle Management.
Understanding Asset Lifecycle Management
Contrary to what everyone believes, we don’t know it all, so we had to do some research on this one. This module includes Capital Asset Management (CAM), Condition-Based Maintenance, Resource Assignments, Equipment Cost Analysis, Real Estate Management, Advanced Real Estate Forecasting, and Rental Management. It’s more confusing than a corn maze in the Midwest, but fear not, listeners—we’re here to guide you through it.
Capital Asset Management (aka CAM)
Think of CAM as the Swiss army knife for your company’s assets, from acquisition to retirement. It helps keep track of everything, maximizing the value of your assets by providing complete visibility across your asset inventory. Key features include preventative maintenance, scheduling work order management, failure analysis, resource assignment management, and integrated time and labor management.
Condition-Based Maintenance
This module helps you run your assets at full capacity while keeping them in top condition. By making maintenance decisions based on actual equipment conditions rather than a predetermined schedule, you can extend equipment life, reduce maintenance costs, and quickly identify and resolve equipment problems. Key features include condition-based testing, automatic maintenance work order processing, and real-time monitoring.
Resource Assignments
Resource assignments help you manage your resources efficiently, capturing detailed information about crews, workers, and equipment. This ensures that the right resources are matched to the right work orders based on skills, availability, and location. It’s like a matchmaking service for your assets, optimizing resource utilization and ensuring effective workload management.
Equipment Cost Analysis
This tool revolutionizes your approach to managing equipment costs by providing detailed tracking of maintenance costs, including labor hours, material costs, and outside services. It helps you understand the true cost drivers behind your equipment expenses, allowing for better cost control and decision-making.
Real Estate Management
Designed to enhance the efficiency and profitability of your real estate operations, this module integrates all aspects of real estate operations from tenant management to financials. It supports comprehensive occupancy analysis, common area maintenance Billings, expense participation functionality, and much more, ensuring that all aspects of property and lease management are covered.
Advanced Real Estate Forecasting
This module significantly reduces budgeting and forecasting cycles by allowing you to model multiple economic scenarios and see their impact on net operating income and property valuation. It integrates transactional budgeting and forecasting processes into one scalable solution, increasing the accuracy of your budgets, forecasts, and valuations.
Rental Management
Rental management offers a comprehensive suite of solutions tailored for rental specialists, making it easier to manage contracts, billing, and asset tracking. It provides a holistic approach to managing rentals, with detailed visibility into item and equipment utilization, profitability analysis, and automated billing mechanisms.
The systems, like all the other JD Edwards EnterpriseOne solutions, integrate seamlessly to other modules such as financials management, human capital management, and supply chain execution.
Midwesternism of the Day
This week we continue our Midwestern cuisine theme, we’re talking about Paul’s favorite delicacy, whether served squeaky or deep-fried. One of the primary vendors at the Minnesota State Fair, known as Mouth Trap, uses a creamery out of Wisconsin, to serve over 65,000 pounds of these over the course of the 12-day State Fair!
