Hello JDE Connection Listeners! Welcome back to another exciting episode of The JDE Connection podcast with your host, Chandra Wobschall, Senior Business Analyst at BrightView Landscapes and co-host, Paul Houtkooper, Vice President of JD Edwards Product Development at Oracle. This week, as Paul survives a heatwave and Chandra finds herself in the middle of Tropical Storm Debby, we explore the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Project Management solution. We covered a lot of ground in previous episodes, from financials and manufacturing to asset lifecycle management. Now we break down project management and all the incredible features it offers.
Understanding Project Management
Project Management enables you to control and proactively manage project costs and billing, from conception through completion. The solution is made up of the following modules, Project Costing, Advanced Job Forecasting, Contract and Service Billing, Advanced Contract Billing, Homebuilder Management, and Project Change Management.
Project Costing
Project Costing provides comprehensive visibility into all project finances, helping to ensure projects stay within budget and remain profitable. Project managers need detailed data for budgets, reporting, resources, procurement, and invoicing to avoid cost overruns and ensure profitability. Key features include, real-time budget-to-actual comparisons, automatic profit recognition based on job progress, robust reporting capabilities with more than thirty category codes, and online field progress entry and status tracking by job, cost account, and contract.
Advanced Job Forecasting
Advanced Job Forecasting helps project managers maintain accurate forecasts and manage project costs effectively. Project managers need up-to-date financial information to make informed decisions and prevent budget overruns. Key features include, real-time financial data visibility, custom formulas for computation, and what-if scenario analysis.
Contract and Service Billing
Contract and Service Billing streamlines the billing process for long-term contracts and service agreements. Companies need to manage complex billing scenarios efficiently to ensure timely and accurate invoicing. Key features include, customizable invoices to meet client-specific requirements, multiple service orders and internal invoicing, and automated rules for revenue recognition independent of invoice amounts.
Advanced Contract Billing
Advanced Contract Billing manages complex and sophisticated contracts, improving cash flow and profitability. Project-driven organizations need to handle multiple contracts with different fees, retention methods, and labor categories. Key features include, hierarchical contract structure, management of multiple funding levels and contract amounts, control of contract terms and conditions, and real-time financial insights and configurable invoices.
Homebuilder Management
Homebuilder Management facilitates the entire repetitive building process, helping builders manage and analyze the profitability of their business. Builders need to ensure all elements, from product offerings to purchasing, are in sync before breaking ground. Key features include, management of product offerings tailored to each project, analysis of performance in various ways, including plan, option, and community, and automatic generation of commitments based on lot preferences.
Project Change Management
Project Change Management helps manage unexpected changes in project scope, schedule, and cost. Companies need to manage project changes efficiently to avoid cost increases and delays. Key features include, speeding up approvals for change requests, maintaining a clear audit trail of all change order details, automatic updates to billing and subcontracts, and real-time updates of cost and unit ledgers for approved changes.
Midwesternism of the Day
This week, we continue with our Midwestern cuisine theme, focusing on a quirky favorite. What do you think of when you hear the words, “sushi” and “Minnesota”? Walleye cheeks? Raw sunnies (sunfish) on Friday afternoon? Northern Pike on a stick? Listen in to find out the real deal.
