The use of technology on the shop floor is still important since its beginning in the industrial history. In the 60s and 70s the computer aided shop floor and production requirements with concepts like MRP and Just-in-Time. Allied with other innovative technologies, shop floor management has been always reliant on automation while it’s success is connected to efficiency in many variables, such as cost, time, volumes of production and losses, and others. Towards efficiency in the information Era, IoT arrives to lead automation as a tool to maximize the profits and minimize the waste in the Value Chain of organizations. Accordingly, SAL CISNE decided to apply the IoT technology in order to improve the data acquisition from its production processes, bringing to the factory information an automated design, while minimizing the human interaction within sensitive production data mining, achieving effective results in its operations management.
