This session was presented at BLUEPRINT 4D 2026.
Business analysts are often valued for being helpful—finding answers, correcting misunderstandings, and delivering clear documentation. But over time, that helpfulness can unintentionally undermine something just as important: confidence. This talk explores how everyday interactions with stakeholders can either reinforce dependence or build confidence in end users—and shifting how we respond can make a meaningful difference. Rather than focusing on formal training, the session looks at how teaching moments naturally show up in the flow of work and how business analysis professionals can create teaching moments. By becoming more intentional about these teachable moments, business analysis professionals help their stakeholders and users participate more confidently in problem-solving and decision-making. The business analysis role moves from only providing answers to becoming a trusted partner—working alongside users to co create solutions that reflect their needs, and leading to better outcomes.
