P-052912: Catching Up to the Future: Pinal County’s Journey from Years of Deferred Upgrades to a Modern JDE Foundation
This session was presented at INFOCUS 2026.
What happens when a county government hasn’t had a major JDE upgrade in over five years? For Pinal County, Arizona, the answer was a complex, high-stakes modernization effort touching nearly every layer of the technology stack — application releases, server operating systems, 32-bit to 64-bit architecture conversion, third-party integrations, and years of accumulated custom development. In this session, Linda Sloan-Compton, Pinal County’s ERP project sponsor, will share the customer’s perspective on planning and executing a comprehensive upgrade to Tools Release 26 and Applications Release 24 — while simultaneously addressing significant infrastructure debt, including migration to Windows Server 2022 and 64-bit conversion impacts on tools like Hubble and ReportsNow. The team also validated and re-licensed Pathlock security tooling under the new architecture, and leveraged DWS Swift test scripts to structure a rigorous multi-phase testing program across Finance, Procurement, and Payroll/HCM. ERP-One Consulting partnered with Pinal County across project management, functional, development, and security workstreams, working alongside a dedicated CNC partner to deliver the full technical scope. Linda will share candid reflections on real-world challenges — security conflicts post-migration, custom object retrofits, orchestration validation, and a go-live date that had to shift to protect quality — and what she’d tell any public-sector JDE customer staring down years of deferred maintenance.
This session is eligible for the following CPE certification: NASBA
