P-053056: The Hidden Integration Tax and the loophole you can take advantage of

This session was presented at INFOCUS 2026.

When your company acquires another, the access model you built years ago quietly decides whether you provision the combined workforce in weeks or spend two quarters remediating toxic access and answering audit findings. Most M&A post-mortems blame culture, talent loss, and data quality, and they are right. But underneath those headlines sits a workstream entirely within your control: the access and risk management architecture that determines whether absorbing an acquired company is a clean mapping exercise or a user-by-user rebuild. This session makes the case in concrete JDE terms. We contrast two patterns: a governed, process-aligned role catalog with a deny-oriented *PUBLIC posture and disciplined role sequencing, versus the sprawling, override-laden model that imports an acquired company’s hidden conflicts on top of your own. We show why the difference is a real line item in deal cost, drawing on documented cases where security gaps cut purchase prices and stalled integrations for months. Practitioners will leave knowing exactly what to inspect in their access model and SoD ruleset, and what “absorb-ready” looks like at the table level. Leaders will leave with a sequencing and funding frame, plus the reframe that makes it fundable: this work pays off as SOX and audit readiness today, with M&A acceleration as the bonus. Every attendee leaves with a one-page readiness scorecard to run against their own environment Monday morning: am I map-ready, or rebuild-bound? Whether you run JDE, SAP, or a mixed estate, the principles transfer. Come find out which side of the line your access model is on.
