P-052703: Vendor Inactivation: Preventing Obsolete Vendors from Being Used in JD Edwards

This session was presented at INFOCUS 2026.

Ensuring obsolete vendors cannot continue to be used throughout the procurement process is where many organizations struggle. At BrightView, with thousands of vendors managed across numerous branch locations, users could unknowingly continue creating purchase orders and receiving goods from vendors that had been placed on hold or marked obsolete, creating unnecessary operational and payment issues. This session demonstrates the end-to-end process BrightView uses to definitively inactivate vendors and prevent further use within JD Edwards. We’ll cover how payment holds, purchase order hold codes, Address Book reason codes, and visual vendor identification work together to stop obsolete vendors from being selected while providing clear visibility into why they have been inactivated. Attendees will gain practical insights into implementing a comprehensive vendor inactivation strategy, including configuration details, lessons learned, and the potential pitfalls to avoid when deploying a similar solution in their own environment.

This session is eligible for the following CPE certification: NASBA
