This presentation will cover identifying system performance issues within the PeopleSoft applications, as well as provide suggestions for tuning. One-third of the class will focus on tuning the application stack (e.g. Web and App server), where the remaining two-thirds of the class will cover identifying slow running SQL, and how this can be tuned to run more efficiently by re-coding, adding indexes, or even making database level changes. The class will attempt to be database/system agnostic, but most examples will be done on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Target audience is system admins, developers, and DBAs of PeopleSoft systems.

This presentation will cover how you can utilize open source tools to monitor the status of your PeopleSoft systems, identifying things such as crashed processes, domain up/down, long running processes, and others. For this session we will demonstrate how we have used Zabbix to be a one stop monitoring and alerting solution for our clients. Since we are using OpenSource tools, we are not limited to only monitoring PeopleSoft related systems - we can extend this across all business applications as appropriate.
