Unravelling the Secrets of Effective Data Integration Strategies from on-prem to cloud
Presented by:
Swathika Ganesan, Northwestern University
Abstract:
Northwestern is currently undertaking integration projects between our on-premise PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application and our Graduate School systems that is hosted in the Cloud. The goal is to create a common data integration strategy in Campus Solutions that delivers reusable event messages and micro-services to send real time / near to real time updates of student information while trying to keep the customization to a minimum and thereby keeping the maintenance cost low. Northwestern will be using APIGEE to maintain the APIs and messaging queues and to add an extra layer of security. We will also see some APIGEE side of this implementation and analytics on the load data.

Balancing the Deluge: Managing IT Project Intake and ERP Requests (Desideratum) with Lean Resources
Presented by:
Rebecca Vilsack, University of Central Florida
Abstract:
In today’s dynamic higher education environment, universities face a growing demand for enhancements to their ERP systems and integrations with cloud applications, often from decentralized departments. These departments enter contracts with third-party vendors, expecting seamless integration with core institutional systems. However, central IT teams are frequently tasked with managing these requests while operating with limited staff and budgets. This presentation will explore how a small, yet highly efficient, central IT team at a large university balances the demands of continuous ERP system enhancements, cloud integration requests, and new and custom functionality while complying with university security and compliance requirements. Through strategic project intake governance and efficient resource utilization, IT leaders can align their limited resources with institutional goals while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and system performance. Attendees will leave with actionable insights into optimizing their project intake processes and aligning IT priorities with university goals, all while navigating the unique challenges of a resource-constrained environment.
