Oracle GoldenGate Product Management is happy to announce free GoldenGate software licenses and support on OCI Marketplace. This promotional offer is valid for a limited period of time for existing Oracle Cloud customers who have already trusted and invested in Oracle Cloud and also to new customers who are planning to migrate data to Oracle Cloud in the next many months. GoldenGate Software must be deployed using OCI Marketplace image and you will need to pay for only the basic OCI infrastructure costs (i.e. Compute, Storage, Network, etc).

Thomas Vengal, Director of Product Management for Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Integration Platform Cloud products, explained that you can receive a free software license and support offer for any of the following three options:

1. 30 days of free trial (no support for free trials)
2. If you had an active entitlement for Oracle PaaS and IaaS Universal Credits Cloud Services as of May 31, 2019, then you are entitled to use limited use term license and receive technical support through December 31, 2020. This is also applicable to customers who have purchased GoldenGate Cloud Service (GGCS), Data Integration Platform Cloud (DIPC) prior to June 1, 2019.
3. If you are going to replicate data into an Oracle Cloud Service (including Autonomous Datawarehouse Cloud, Autonomous Transaction Processing, Exadata cloud service, Virtual Machine Exadata Cloud Service, Bare Metal Database Cloud Service, Oracle Big Data Cloud Service) using PaaS or IaaS Universal Credits Service, then you are entitled to use term license along with technical support services through May 31, 2020.

In addition to the free software license for Goldengate, customers are also allowed to bring in their existing on-premises licenses under BYOL (Bring Your Own Licenses) scheme for any other use-cases. The licenses could be Term, Processor, Named User, ULA, On-Prem as Subscription (ie. OpEx Model).

It is currently unknown whether the free promotion scheme will be extended beyond the announced period and pricing beyond the free promotion period is not available yet. Customers may have two options to consider:

1. Continue forward with the future GoldenGate Service that was announced at Oracle OpenWorld 2019
2. Simply license GoldenGate for whatever is running in the OCI Marketplace
