Spreadsheet Server
Automated PeopleSoft reporting can be done with Spreadsheet Server, an Excel add-in that allows real-time, Excel-based reporting. It is primarily used for Financials but it could be useful to anyone looking to build reports. The simplicity of it enables you to spend more time analyzing reports instead of just building them.
To get started, you can choose from pre-configured formulas and sheets in the “Build a Template” wizard. You can then set the parameters for what information you want to pull. Spreadsheet Server pulls data straight from PeopleSoft tables into Excel. By doing this, you can build and maintain reports all in Excel and eliminate the back and forth between PeopleSoft and Excel.
Another perk of pulling straight from Excel is that the numbers and analytics are always updating with live data. You can also break down information by categories like department, time frame and more. You can use the drill-down feature to access even more details about the information you select, so there is no need to go back through PeopleSoft to find the answers to your questions. It is all linked in Excel!
Sharing Reports
After you gather your information, you can also share it with others. The Distribution Manager tool allows you to streamline and automate distribution reports all within Excel. There are a variety of options and configurations for sending reports such as the date and time the report is sent, the file format the report is sent in and who the report is sent to. You can do this all from the comfort of Excel without ever leaving your spreadsheet.
Other Features
You can also limit the information that you share with someone, so instead of sending the entire report, you can send smaller pieces. Additionally, you can also share in view-only mode or with password protection.
