JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Widgets are opening up a new era of simplicity, flexibility, and actionable insights for business users. Presented at INFOCUS 2025 by Nicole Laurent, Mike Rodgers, and A.J. Schifano, this session highlighted how widgets extend beyond traditional watchlists and UX One pages to deliver a more dynamic and interactive user experience.
From Watchlists to Widgets
For years, One View Watchlists have been a core component of UX One pages, providing users with quick indicators based on data queries. But as Schifano explained, their functionality has always been limited to simple record counts. Widgets change that paradigm.
Instead of being restricted to non-negative integers, widgets can display any outputs from orchestrations, such as formatted values or text strings. That means a badge could show total revenue in the billions, a yes/no approval status, or the name of the most-ordered product—all at a glance.
Visualization with Real Impact
Widgets aren’t limited to badges. They can render orchestration outputs into pie charts, bar charts, meters, or text boxes, offering a highly visual way to consume information.
- Badge Widgets: Perfect for quick stats like “most ordered item” or “approval status.”
- Pie and Bar Charts: Display aggregated business data, such as purchase orders or spend analysis, grouped by business unit.
- Meters and Text Boxes: Highlight KPIs like temperature ranges or external API data pulled directly into JD Edwards.
Because widgets are orchestration-driven, they can incorporate not only JD Edwards data but also external sources via REST APIs—everything from weather forecasts to third-party financial data, and even content generated by AI services.
Seamless Integration with EnterpriseOne Pages
Widgets can be added to EnterpriseOne pages in just a few clicks, letting teams build dashboards quickly without custom BI development. With the introduction of Widget Panes in Tools 9.2.9.4, users gain more screen real estate and full-page widget displays, enabling richer visualizations. They’re also responsive, scalable, and customizable at both the designer and end-user level, making them practical for organizations of any size.
Driving Enterprise Automation
Widgets aren’t just about visualization—they’re a crucial piece of the Enterprise Automation roadmap. By surfacing orchestration outputs directly into dashboards, they help businesses identify process performance, pinpoint where changes are needed, and act quickly on real data. As Laurent emphasized, widgets unify the user experience by bridging business processes with real-time metrics, empowering organizations to turn JD Edwards’ “digital gold” into actionable insights.
What’s Next for Widgets
Already available with Tools 9.2.9.3 and expanded in 9.2.9.4, widgets will continue to evolve. Future enhancements aim to integrate widgets with Café One layouts and expand contextual linking, giving users even more flexibility to tailor their dashboards.
For JD Edwards users, widgets represent a major leap forward in usability, efficiency, and data-driven decision making. As Schifano put it during the session, “Tell me how far you can take it.” The answer seems clear: widgets are poised to become a cornerstone of the JD Edwards experience.
