User Defined Objects: Giving Power to End Users

by Shelby Klingerman, Content Curator |

User Defined Objects, often called UDOs, are web-based objects that are created in EnterpriseOne by either citizen developers, like business analysts, or by end users themselves. UDOs put the control in the hands of users and allow them to personalize their user experience without drastically modifying base objects. This means that users can depend less on IT teams to make changes for them because there is no coding involved.

UDOs are stored in EnterpriseOne and are managed like any other EnterpriseOne object. Managing UDOS is fairly easy. After a user creates a UDO, they can request that it be published. From there, an administrator reviews the UDO and either publishes and shares it or rejects the submission. Once it is approved, users or roles that have been enabled through security can view the shared UDO. If it gets rejected, the approver can send a message back to the user’s Work Center to explain the reason why. A user can adjust and resubmit the UDO if rejected.

Securing UDOs is also fairly easy to do. Security can be set up by an administrator in EnterpriseOne Security Workbench based on the feature, action, view or content. A user’s ability to create, share and view UDOs depends on the permissions given to them by an administrator.
