Virtualization Boot Camp: Oracle VM Implementation and Administration

Oracle VM Server for x86 is Oracle’s virtualization product for the commodity hardware platform. This product is the only virtualization product supported by Oracle for database virtualization. Edward Whalen is the author of the newly published book “Oracle VM Implementation and Administration” from Oracle Press. In this session he will cover an introduction to the Oracle VM Architecture, tips and best practices on how to configure Oracle VM for Oracle databases and general virtualization advice.
The Oracle VM Architecture consists of three types of servers; the Virtual Machine Server, Utility Server and Master Server. In addition, Oracle provides a variety of tools for managing these servers and the virtual machines that they host. Virtual machines can be configured as either Hardware Virtualized Machines (HVM) or Paravirtualized. This session will cover the different types of systems and how they can be optimally configured to support Oracle databases and application servers.
