This popular session has been updated to reflect recent enhancements to integrate PeopleSoft Expenses with Google Maps at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). HMH expanded its suite of integrated PeopleSoft products by implementing the PeopleSoft Expenses, replacing a legacy Expensibles product. Upon final rollout, up to 30,000 team members will be able to create pre-travel authorizations, enter expense reports, and submit/approve via mobile devices. HMH implemented native mobile functionality designed specifically for its expense capture and approval demands. Written in pure Fluid architecture, PeopleSoft allows easy configuration of mobile content, with an extensible framework to accommodate unique processes and configurations. Working tightly with systems integrator SpearMC, the solution implemented simplifies HMH expense reporting, helping team members stay on top of receipts and submit timely expense reports, while also helping accounting tighten its expense cycles.

“LUie, what’s my Math Placement score?” How LUC’s chatbot is improving student life

Several years ago, Loyola University Chicago established a five-year plan to advance the Loyola Digital Experience (LDE) strategy in part by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI). A digital assistant would be a perfect blend of digitizing previously analog services, like student support, by deploying AI. The digital assistant would be piloted during the 2019 fall semester and eventually rolled out to 16,000+ undergraduate students. They named it LUie, and it would provide hundreds of answers to frequent questions while leveraging information sourced from bookstores, Google Maps, and PeopleSoft Campus.
In the three+ years since LUie was introduced, data indicates it has been a resounding success. Much higher student engagement. Accuracy rates in the mid-90 percentile. Current statistical highlights include a doubling in usage rate this year validate Loyola’s decision to implement a digital assistant.

“When starting a digital transformation, it is best to know why you’re doing it. Is moving to the Cloud a means to an end, or an end in itself? Are you trying to impact the bottom line, improve the user experience, or both? As the industry learns real-world lessons about re-platforming in the Cloud era, you’d better have your priorities straight.
This session will take a hopefully sober, and likely sobering look at how a SaaS project affects users and finances. Moving to the cloud will definitely change user experience and functionality – probably in both positive and negative ways. Cloud moves always change cost structures – but don’t automatically reduce cost.
Your priorities should dictate the timing of your Cloud move, and well-informed decisions may contradict herd mentality. You may find it worthwhile to invest in dramatically improving your PeopleSoft user experience today while you are preparing for your Cloud move. Sorry if we’re the first to tell you this, but SaaS won’t magically make everything better.
Warning: Sacred cows (and conventional wisdom) are not safe in this session! We will question the consensus meaning of “digital transformation” and propose a more challenging definition; we’ll take a clear-eyed look at the negative impacts you can expect from a SaaS move, and steps you can take to mitigate them.
