Ryan Companies is a national builder, developer, designer and real estate manager based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With in-house construction, design, development, capital markets and real estate management, Ryan uses integrated project delivery (IPD) as a preferred method for delivering design and construction projects and organizing project teams. As part of a corporate knowledge management initiative, Ryan was looking to implement a centralized system where employees could easily access and maintain corporate best practices, procedures, and project-specific documents across all department and regions. The previously disjointed systems had caused duplication, unmanaged historical document versions, difficult navigation, and limited search capabilities. The absence of document management practices was causing inefficient processes, wasted time on administrative tasks, and unnecessary rework. Ryan Companies had been using Oracle WebCenter in a few departments for many years and decided to move away from scattered file shares and make Oracle WebCenter Content the single repository for all corporate knowledge documentation. Like most construction firms, Ryan has many employees who work in the field and not in an office. For this reason, a great mobile experience was critical to the success of the project. For this reason and others, Ryan implemented Fishbowl Solutions’ ControlCenter add-on for Oracle WebCenter Content to provide a rich user experience on both mobile and desktop devices while providing easier control and organization of important documents. The project also included an upgrade to WebCenter Content to 12c. Join this session to hear from Ryan’s companies how combining Oracle WebCenter Content, ControlCenter, and knowledge management best practices helped Ryan Companies realize financial value through the centralization of corporate knowledge, achieve its strategic direction for lifecycle and software improvements for Vision 2020, minimize risk with improved document accessibility and life cycle workflow processes, and obtain competitive advantage through document quality and process achievements.
