The monthly October HCM SIG meeting will be in person at InFocus. This is an opportunity to meet other SIG members and share ideas and issues and have meaningful discussion around the JDE Human Capital Management module.

Abstract:

Security roles at Phibro Animal Health Corporation were over 10 years old and had not been strategically managed during this time. Like so many JDE implementations, security was completed quickly towards the end of the projects. As a result, there were many security elements that did not adhere to standard best practices. The situation was resulting in significant effort by the security team to manage records at a user level, business disruption, lost productivity, and compliance issues that surfaced in their audit findings.
 
This session will walk through how they were able to easily design the security roles they needed, complete a successful testing phase, and then implement that solution across 30 companies, reduce organizational risk and consequently was able to spend much less time managing security because of a much more effective security model!

Still on the fence about upgrading from World to EnterpriseOne? Oracle has previously announced that extended support for A9.4 will expire in 2025, so World customers need to begin planning for their future ERP needs today (if they haven’t already). While there are numerous benefits for users, it still requires significant planning to be successful. There can be substantial change in all three areas (people, process, and technology) that will need to be addressed. If each is not given enough consideration, the results could be painful. We will have online a person from Oracle who will answer questions and listen to how we think the tools can be improved. The Tech SIG will take down any enhancement requests to add to the Quest Enhancement request system.

In this session, we will explore the benefits of integrating mobile asset data using the EnterpriseOne Orchestrator (formerly IoT Orchestrator). Fleet Management is one application that has never been developed within standard JD Edwards Applications. Attendees will discover how to seamlessly integrate real time vehicle and equipment data such as meter readings (odometer, engine hours fuel usage etc.) GPS Locations, Speed, and more.

Information Security Departments the world over are requiring that business applications capable of authenticating using the enterprise Identity Providers (IDPs) do so, in addition to using MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). At the City of Prince George we are now automating all of our server windows patching. This necessitated that we create a method of nicely shutting down and restarting all of the servers.

All JD Edwards organization need to keep their software components updated to avoid obsolescence and most importantly, to keep the system secure against known security vulnerabilities and glitches. Two components that often are not kept updated are the Java JDK (Java Development Kit) and JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

Objectives:

• The standard installation process makes cumbersome to update the software within the Oracle WebLogic, JD Edwards, and Server Manager Agents. This session is designed to address this task and make easier for System Administrators to maintain the servers in good working order.

Leveraging EnterpriseOne’s digital platform including Orchestrator, they became one of the first in their industry to implement Blockchain technology, using Oracle’s Blockchain platform, to monitor and track their Bellucci premium extra virgin olive oil from the Italian bottling facility to the port of arrival. With REST services called by Orchestrator, Certified Origins records in Blockchain, in real time, purchase orders, goods received, sales orders, shipments, and customer invoices. By doing this they have unified intercompany logistics standards, improved order processing from different branches and streamlined warehouse management. For financials, the system provides rapid and flexible data queries.

There are lots of processes that users don’t do day in and day out so when they do attempt these tasks, they often make mistakes and forget steps.
 
This results in bad data and rework down the road. I have been combining orchestrations with standard JDE screens to stream line these processes.
I also have orchestrations monitoring for bad data and sending notifications when data problems show up.
 
I will go through a bunch of these examples in all different modules o show how orchestrations can help you keep your system streamlined and clean.

Abstract:

After attending sessions and taking some training I realized that creating orchestrations is easy but I still kept stumbling with what do I actually do with the orchestration once I create it.
 
I know that you can use the form extension to create a button on a form to call an orchestration but if you want to pass in data and the data you need is not on the form, then what do you do? I have also had people talk about writing external scripts or web pages and using the orchestrations from there. That is all great, but I am not a full-fledged programmer so how can I use what I have and know in JDE to make my orchestrations work for me? It has been a long road, and I have learned a lot about the next steps to take to actually get an orchestration to work within JDE and I wanted to share my experience.

• Show how to troubleshoot issues with orchestrations within JDE
• Give some real example of how I used orchestrations to streamline and eliminate steps at our company.
