Hoffman Construction, a privately held construction company based out of Portland, decided to update its HCM processes and software. The company brought in a consultant from eVerge Group to assist with the transition toward implementing Oracle’s HCM applications.

Hoffman decided to apply TBE Cloud for recruiting, onboarding and the configurable interface to HCM Cloud. They also adopted HCM Cloud for Global HR, benefits, performance management, goal management, talent review, succession planning, learning and interfaces to JDE One Payroll.

A few reasons Hoffman chose to go with Oracle’s application over others:

• The ability to integrate their current JD Edwards financial system.
• The need for a one-stop shop for all HR needs.
• The push to simplify and standardize processes to match the software instead of modifying software to accommodate outdated processes.

Although there was a lot of room for improvement during Hoffman’s transition to Oracle for HCM, there were inevitably still bumps in the road that needed to be addressed.

Some challenges that Hoffman Construction faced were:

• An understaffed HR department that was overloaded with time-consuming basic tasks that took away from time for other work.
• Knowledge sharing between all remote locations.
• Learning to work in the cloud when all other systems were on-premises.

Hoffman was eventually able to overcome these challenges, and the alterations that were made benefitted system owners, managers, applicants and current employees across the board. Communication was improved, self-service was implemented, and direct access to information became available.

Hoffman achieved many of its goals, including:

• Simplifying and streamlining the open enrollment process.
• Improving employee engagement and retention.
• Increasing operational efficiency and delivering standard HR processes.
• Promoting collaboration and communication through embedded social tools.
