Fluid Implementation: Intermountain Healthcare's Process

Intermountain Healthcare recently shared its Fluid implementation success story at RECONNECT 18. The company implemented PeopleSoft 9.2 with Fluid UI in June 2017 with PUM 19. In March 2018, they moved to PeopleTools 8.56 and PeopleSoft PUM 25 with Selective Adoption.

Pre- Fluid Implementation

Before the move to Fluid, Intermountain Healthcare identified a few things to consider before the implementation took place:

  • The benefit-Does it simplify and improve the experience?
  • Overcoming frustrations associated with switching to a new UI.
  • Driving users to what they should be doing daily.

Transitioning to Fluid

During the move to Fluid, the focus was on homepages and tiles, navigation collections and Workcenters. Due to all the changes, Intermountain Healthcare decided to implement training for all users. The approach to training was to provide a 3-minute tutorial video, send targeted emails to key groups and integrate updates in regular meetings with stakeholders. The idea was to have people know what to expect so there would be no surprises when they fully implemented Fluid.

Life with Fluid

After the transition, Intermountain Healthcare noticed some key benefits of moving to Fluid UI:

  • An overall improved user experience.
  • Fewer clicks for navigation, which meant increased efficiency and time saved.
  • A more intuitive UI that helped minimize the amount of necessary training.
