High Availability – The Fundamentals of What, When, and How

Understanding the ‘TRUE’ High Availability (HA) requirements for the systems is the most critical component in providing and configuring the desired HA for the application. Business and IT must have a common understanding regarding the cost associated with the expected HA. The associated cost and the ‘TRUE’ HA requirements primarily drive the solution architecture and supporting technology. Alignment among business, application, and database teams is the key for success.
This technical session covers the fundamentals of a structured process in order to have a common understanding the true HA requirements. The presentation continues to cover available technologies in addressing the end-state architectural solution for the desired HA along with specific examples of how we have been achieving the database HA at Verizon Wireless.
