Paravirtualization in an Oracle Database Environment

Oracle VM provides two major categories of virtual machines; HVM and Paravirtualized. The HVM or Hardware Virtualized Machine is able to take advantage of hardware acceleration features built into the x86 chipset to accelerate certain operations. The Paravirtualized machine is able to take advantage of more efficient device drivers, thus accelerating network and I/O operations. Which type of virtual machine is best for you? This will depend on the type of application that is being done.
This session begins by describing the types of virtual machines and the latest information on hardware acceleration features in the x86 chipset. In addition advice on which type of system to use based on workload will be provided
