Guided Self Service in PeopleSoft is easy to use and configure; its a great way to put your managers in control. Guided Self Service is already a feature within Core HR, so no additional licensing is needed to access it. Guided Self Service is a highly configurable Fluid feature that is available now with Image 24 and a minimum requirement of PeopleTools 8.55.

Some of the benefits to Guided Self Service (aside from being a configurable solution that is easy-to-use) are that it includes the mobile capabilities of Fluid, has built-in approvals and workflows, the elimination of paper-based forms and Position Management integration.

 

Empowering Managers with PeopleSoft Guided Self Service

Guided Self Service gives managers the power to initiate transactions like promotions, transfers, raises and more. A simple questionnaire asks managers about what they want to achieve and they are led straight to action items based on their answers; specific fields will be displayed based on the responses that the manager gives in the questionnaire. Areas that have been changed will have an orange dot next to them and the manager will hit submit when they are finished.

You can configure whether or not there are approval steps after the manager takes action. Just choose the number of steps needed and who would need to approve it. There’s also an option to let the manager make final decisions so that no further approval is required. In that type of use case, the manager’s changes will update directly into Position Management and Job Data.

Another great feature with Guided Self Service is the ability to select multiple options in one transaction. For example, if you want to transfer several employees to a different location, you can choose all them at once and only have to complete one transfer transaction instead of having to do each one individually.
