Step-by-Step: Using Fluid Activity Guide Composer

Shelby Klingerman, Content Curator |

Fluid Activity Guide Composer is the framework that helps users create activity guides for features like Life Events or Onboarding. Activity Guide Composer was released in Image 23 and it allows you to create or configure activity guides, choose what steps go within an activity guide and by what date it must be completed.

Key Takeaways

  • Activity guides make it easy for employees to follow step-by-step instructions during a process; such as updating Life Events or completing Onboarding.
  • Activity guides are easily configurable within the Fluid Activity Guide Composer.
  • Managers can track the progress an employee has made through an activity guide.

Why Activity Guides Are Great

Activity guides are an easy way to guide your employees through processes like updating Life Events or completing Onboarding. The pagelet bar on the side of the screen shows all of the steps that must be completed, so there’s no mistaking what to do or when to do it. This makes employee self-service even easier. Additionally, activity guides will be useful in the future for Fluid Benefits Enrollment, which is a roadmap item coming soon for HCM.

Activity Guides and Self Service

When building the activity guide with self-service in mind, it’s important to configure the steps and choose what makes the most sense for your employees. You can decide what fields you want to display, which fields should be required and in what order they should appear. You can also add custom text boxes to display messages or hyperlinks that lead to additional resources.

It is also possible to group steps within an activity guide. Many companies group steps based on time frames; for example, steps that should be done within the first week of onboarding would get grouped together. You can group steps in whatever way works for you.

Great for Managers

Not only are activity guides easy for employees to follow and complete but it’s also easy for managers to keep track of everything. Managers can go in and see a summary of what an employee has already completed, what still needs to be done and any due dates that may be coming up. They can also send reminders to employees who have not completed the necessary steps in an activity guide.
