The JDE Connection: Episode 104 – From Bangalore to BP4D Connecting with the India Dev Team

Hosted by Chandra Wobschall and Paul Houtkooper

In this episode of The JDE Connection, we got to do something different. We welcomed members of Oracle’s India development team who are heading to BLUEPRINT4D for the first time. And what unfolded was a reminder that the future of JD Edwards is shaped not just by code, but by conversations.

Conversations Matter

Technology improves fastest when the people building it can hear directly from the people using it.

That sounds obvious, but in large enterprise environments it’s surprisingly rare. Geography, priorities, and process often create distance between product teams and customers. Events like BLUEPRINT4D help close that gap by turning requirements into real conversations.

Innovation Only Matters If Stability Comes with It

In ERP, progress can’t come at the expense of reliability. Every enhancement has to preserve the systems customers depend on daily. The real challenge isn’t adding something new, it’s improving the product without disrupting what already works.

Flexibility Is a Strength and a Challenge

JD Edwards is powerful because organizations can shape it around their business. But that same flexibility means no two customers use it exactly the same way. Product decisions become smarter when developers see firsthand how varied those real-world processes are.

AI Needs Purpose, Not Hype

The discussion around AI centered on practical outcomes, not flashy promises. Can it reduce friction, improve decisions, or simplify work in manufacturing and logistics? If not, it’s just noise.

Sustainability Is Now an Operational Issue

Environmental reporting is no longer separate from the business. It now touches supply chains, operations, finance, and compliance. That makes integrated ERP solutions far more valuable than disconnected tools and spreadsheets.

Midwesternism of the Day

This week we were reminded that certain regional experiences can’t really be explained, they have to be lived. If you know, you know.

Don’t just sit there…engage!

If you’re attending BLUEPRINT4D, don’t just sit through sessions. Bring your real examples. Bring the workaround your team still uses. Bring the process that takes too long. Bring the opportunity you think technology could solve. Those conversations often create more value than the presentations themselves.

Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and most importantly, laughing together.

Toodles!
